I phoned up yesterday (phone call no.1). I got transferred to the customer loyalty department (read: Highly Trained Defensive Operatives Unit). I swore at the operative on the other end because he would NOT stop trying to sell me some other package. He got stroppy because I swore (one F word! Jeez, grow up!) and I ended up hanging up. It was either that or REALLY swear at him.
Anyway... thanks for the address. I will be queueing up at the post office ready for when it opens on Monday morning so I can go registered postal on their as.
I'm ashamed that I didn't get the operative's name though. Sorry.
The quest continues...*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0 -
I've just rang the 0191 501 3601 number to cancel my Setanta subscription and got through straight away, the reason I want to cancel is because the season is over and no doubt I'll want to renew come August, they gave me a £5 a month for 3 month deal and come August I won't attract reconnection fee etc etc
Thanks for the 0191 501 3601 number
PS they have just signed up to screen Man Utd friendlies!0 -
Hi folks this is my first time on here so be gentle please lol.
We cancelled Setant in January this year yet they continued to take money from our bank. They have ignored phone calls, emails and recorded letters from us so now Tradning Standards are dealing with it on our behalf................and guess what? they're ignoring them too!!!!!
Who else can we go to in order for this so called company to listen and pay back what they owe??
Its totally a non customer friendly company

Hi shirlthegirlx & welcome...
by the sounds of it you haven't, but have you cancelled your dd payment method yet..? if not do it now
are you still receiving pictures from setanta..? if you are then it looks like they've not yet received your letter of cancellation & you might have to send another...(sorry)...be sure that you know the correct address for cancelling as they keep changing it as you've probably guessed, the Sunderland address (if that still applies) is a couple of posts above this one...
i'm free of Setanta now- no pictures, no phone calls & no texts from them anymore- & it's a great feeling, hope you experience that feeling very soon...
thought for the day..." Setanta...never again !"0 -
Yes we cancelled direct debit and our viewing of setanta was deleted only a day or two after we made the phone call, quick at doing some things eh!!!! We did receive an email from them comfirmaing cancellation, but the fact remains that they still took money without permission. They told Trading Standards that the only way to deal with it is to contact them through their Luxumborg office, but they still ignoring him!
Just think of how many more £9.99's theyre taking from peopleHi shirlthegirlx & welcome...

called again thisn morning to "update my address" as a letter to my old address had been returned.
I informed them that my account was cancelled I have no reason to be on their database, so remove me, and left it at that.
She confirmed I have no outstanding payments, and then I said thank you goodbye.
Why contact me if they have on their system that I have paid up and not recieving their services, just to update my address on their system.

After lack of interest from a couple of local journalists to write about Setanta, their stealth T&C changes and general disregard for customer service and continually moving the goalposts to cancel, I've decided to write an article myself publish it online and offer it to a few of the national newspapers.
I know a lot of you, like myself have had several bad experiences with them, many mentioned here, but if you'd like to formally contribute to my article, feel free to PM me with specifics, and I'll consider them for inclusion.
Once I have enough from the customer POV, I'll give Katie Isworth at Setanta a call and see what the company she works for has to say, although I dare say I'll probably not get much joy there.
When it's done, I'll link you up to it, and we'll see if it snowballs.

I rang them 5 times on the following number after they refused to accept my emails or letters. I also contacted Radio 5 Live who were interested in doing a piece on it. When I told Setanta they cancelled my subscription. Tel: 0191 501 3482 Setanta Cancelleation Service0
