Trying to cancel Setanta?!
Comments
-
Since cancelling my subscription at the end of March I have had numerous letters and phone calls from Setanta, alternating between special offers to lure me back and asking why I have cancelled my payment plan (DD).
Nearly lost my rag with the Indian-sounding bloke who rang while I was serving the kids tea tonight:mad: Told him I don't give a t@ss about billing dates, I got 2 months for £1 and 3 months for £5, so £16 is all they are entitled to out of me and to take me to court if they want to chase the 9.99 they are after.
The next Setanic employee to call me will be threatened with a court injunction!

I'm sorry but if you were on the £5 a month offer like i was then why were you expecting to be charged £9.99..?
I was charged £9.99 earlier this month when i was expecting to be charged £5 a month for the next 2 months.
I originally had 2 months at £1, followed by 3 months at £5, so was expecting the 1st full price subscription to be £9.99. Was billed at £150 -
My channels are now off (good sign) I will report here when my next payment would normally be taken to say if its still been taken or not.0

You story is exactly as mine.
I have received a letter to contact them about the cancelled direct debit.
I called and the operative was useless so i followed it up with a letter.
They have since called my house twice while i was at work and my wife told them to call after 6 which they haven't.
A 2nd letter arrived on Saturday which said to contact them but to ignore their letter if i had already contacted them about the matter.
As i have sent them a letter i shall ignore it!
Just wondered how far it goes before the threat of being blacklisted appears.
I have paid £1, £2.10, £5 and £5 after which they said i owed £9.99.
I believe i owe £2.90 which i am more than happy to pay if they call me.0 -

Yet another letter here yesterday, informing me that they appear to have no payment details for my account

Yet another phonecall last night (at nearly 8pm). I was out, but OH thought he would have a go at giving them a piece of his mind (bless him). Now they are trying to say they have no record of my account being cancelled. Shame for them that I have a letter dated 31st March 2008 beginning " We're sorry you have decided to leave us...."
I wonder if BT could block their number?

Nothing has changed I see. I have just cancelled, contacted them at work this time (but now I have the 0191 number, I can call them for free at home), successfully unsubscribed, I thought, but today received a letter about direct debit. I have emailed them yet again, but copied BBC Watchdog, more people should do this, watchdog@bbc.co.uk

Hi all Long term reader first time poster............ and it has to be in here about these fuds at setanta.
Just want to know something.
I sent a letter dated 11th April to their fife address by recorded delivary giving a months notice. The reason I sent it on the 11th was that I initially phoned up to cancel a month previous, however on the 11th april I had money taken out DD.
So they have recieved the letter (royal mail confirms) however today I get a text messege indicating that I am to call them on 08712004405. Has anyone ever been contacted by text messege? did you reply and if so on what phone number.
If they want me they can call me.0 -
Never had a text from them - and yes absolutely, if they want you let them call you!! What a cheek! And remember to cancel your DD yourself too.0

Yup cancelled DD.
They have called me on 01313483500 not long back to confirm that it was not an accident that I cancelled my DD and sent them a letter by recorded delivary (Idiots). There is another number if anyone else needs a setanta on freeview geographic number0
