Pah! You're not even trying - I saved 89%, stayed in and earned ......... 10p!
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -
It wouldn't be in the spirit of things but I wonder if anyone has taken to moving their normal daily intensive workloads to 5pm. I wouldn't have anything to move.0

Must admit, I was thinking of running the dishwasher or washing machine around peak times rather than earlier or later in the day, when it's not an energy saving session of course.Lorian said:It wouldn't be in the spirit of things but I wonder if anyone has taken to moving their normal daily intensive workloads to 5pm. That's what will happen though, and in fact having banked my 86p as mentioned above, I have put off doing some washing earlier in the day and saved it to put on in the next half hour or so (4.p.m. as I am posting.) My usage at this time of day isn't high but if I can bump the average up a bit, it might make me another 10p next time!Lorian said:It wouldn't be in the spirit of things but I wonder if anyone has taken to moving their normal daily intensive workloads to 5pm. You think you are abusing/gaming the system but this is what they want you to do.
There are times when they have an excess of power and times when there is not enough.0 -
I don't think it is what "they" want us to do. How is the grid load different on a Tuesday at 5pm compared to the next day at 5pm? Unless of course one of those days is an energy saving day.Krakkkers said:You think you are abusing/gaming the system but this is what they want you to do.

It's not a in day adjustment type game but moving genuine workload on some days heading in to a forecasted extended cold/low wind period where DFS could be called for several days in a row and all event days are excluded....
Met office do a fairly detailed 10 day forecast.0 -
Edited due to spot1034 correcting my cold riddled brain
