I turned the TV off, didn't cook anything, turned routers and remote controlled garage door off, turned Christmas lights off and most lights in the house. Had turned up central heating thermostat 0.5 degree 30 minutes before, then turned it back down as the hour started, so that the pump wouldn't run.
Earned £2.04 in the last 1 hour session - every little helps!

Hmm only just got round to checking my emails and it looks like there is a "staggered test" tomorrow evening (Friday).  The times are different for octopus and others (including eon next) if the bids are accepted it looks like the test period for eon next customers will be 17.30 to 18.30 but best see what the email says when it lands.

    (I believe octopus are 17.00 to 18.00)

For the previous three events I have calculated my base from the previous ten weekdays, excluding event days.

The percentages reported back to me are pretty much spot on.

    29/11, 71% reduction, £2.10 refund
    01/12, 34% reduction, £0.93 refund
    05/12, 14% increase, oopsie!
    12/12, 32% reduction, expecting about £0.90
I have just got my results from E.ON Next for 12/12 and I reduced my usage by 46% which is well above my calculation.

On the other hand this only got me £0.54.

I have no idea how 34% gets me £0.93 but 46% is only worth £0.54.

What's your baseline calc for the day, the payment indicates it's really low.

My initial baseline was 0.31 kWh and my actual for 12/12 was 0.21kWh giving a reduction of 0.10kWh which is 32%.

E.ON say I had a 46% reduction so they must have used a base of 0.39kWh.

    Edit. I think I have just twigged. 0.18kWh @ £3.00 per kWh is £0.54.

I was basing my calculations on £ per percentage saved.

Having now got the method sussed I checked out the calculations for my rebates.

The rebates for the events on 29/11 and 12/12 are fine and equate with £3.00 per kWh.

The 1/12 rebate appears to be based on £4.51 per kWh. I have checked out the E.ON community forum and others are also reporting this anomaly.

I wonder if E.ON converted from a 1 hour event to a 1.5 hour event and got from £3.00 to £4.50 by multiplying 3 by 1.5?

This has some logic but the event on 29/11 was also 1.5 hours and this was correctly calculated on £3.00 per kWh.

Using £4.50 an hour for the average saving over a 1.5 hour session (paying for 1 hour) will have saved them adding another column to their spreadsheet ;-)

Sessions can be longer than 1.5 hours this year so if it's cold and still in the new year expect more of this.

This was my personal view about the 1st Dec event
