Just a thought. If the reference period is the previous 8 days then this will include the 2 days from the previous test periods.

Hence, this includes a lower consumption, non typical comparison period. If I was previously very successful in reducing my consumption, then my target will be harder to meet.

They are omitted from the national grid ESO DFS calculation.

However Eon are a law unto themselves and will do what they want.
  • I was told I increased my energy usage by 14%.  That's not too surprising, I heat electrically and last Friday was very cold.  Then another session today with less than 24 hours notice; I won't bother.

Same here, no e-mail but £4.40 credited today.  This was mainly due to not turning on the oven and kettle, and turning off every light in the house.  It was quite nice watching TV in the dark
Won't do very well on tonights session as a lower baseline to save from as don't usually use a lot of energy between 5.30 and 6.30pm.

This is the first time I have taken part in these and am enjoying trying to work out what can be shifted to outside the saver session.

Got the email for the second session now.
    It says:
Thanks again for taking part in our last energy saving event. You hit your target!

You can see exactly how much energy you saved (and how much we’ll be crediting your account) below.

You reduced your energy usage by 22% so we’ll credit your account with £0.80.

So the target of 20% usage does appear to be a target of 20% reduction, otherwise I wouldn't have hit it.
I got £2.83 for a reduction of 91% in the first session and 80p for the 22% in the second.
Calulating backwards from the figures given and my smart meter data from n3rgy, there is no way I can see that the credit given is linear.
I figured my 91% saving was 0.950 kWh and the 22% saving was 0.179kWh, so it isn't a £/kWh pricing being used.

Had the same things switched off for today's session as the first one (albeit shorter), so will be interesting to see what "saving" that results in.
Switching my brain off for a rest now. :)

    My results were as follows.

    29 Nov.   71%.   £2.10
    01 Dec.   34%.   £0.93

I cannot see a clear correlation but the second event is about half of the first for both percentage and cash.

This thread over at the Eon Next community forum might be helpful to those trying to reconcile their rewards for the 2 recent tests and the Dec 1st live event.

A little comforting to be assured that Eon Next don't really understand it either! ;)
