  • The T&C state that the switch must be started by today, and complete within 30 days. I'm not sure when my DD's will be showing in the donor account, so I would like to delay the switch towards the end of the 30day period. But the app does not give the option to choose a switch date. It defaults to 7 working days.
If the switch completes before the DD's appear, will the old bank redirect them later? And then would they count? Or is there a way of delaying the switch?

I’ve just had an interesting in-app conversation with a Barclays representative.  I was asking why my £175 bonus hadn’t been paid yet, despite my switch completing on the 10th November and meeting all the T&Cs, but my husband, whose switch completed on 17th November, received his £175 on 20th November.

The rep said the Bonus Payments are scheduled to take place on the 2nd December 2023 and 2nd January 2024, so my payment should be in my account on Monday 4th December as the 2nd is a Saturday.  He confirmed that I had met all the T&Cs.

He said it wasn’t possible for my husband to have already received his payment (even though we know that he and many others did!) so maybe as a previous poster suggested, it was a test run on 20th November?

Anyway, hope this helps anyone who has met all the T&Cs but hasn’t received their £175 yet, and I will certainly be checking my account on Monday 😀.

Gosh, many thanks for posting this @Northern_Mum - you got more sense out of a rep than I did.
Hopefully what he told me is correct - we’ll see on Monday.  If I don’t get my payment then, I will be straight back on to Barclays!
For me he was doing well at sounding like he knew what he was talking about until he said no payments had been made yet!

Decided to take the plunge today and apply for the Barclays current account via the their app. It was approved straight away and then allowed me to apply for the Blue rewards and again all opened immediately.

I have the two dd's in place but will not pay out again until 8 and 20 December.  The switch has been confirmed as being the 5 December. I am hoping they may offer some grace and not charge the £5.00 for November as I have just joined. Fingers crossed!  I know with Lloyds when I applied for their Club account this was the case and waived the £3 fee.
Just an update of how things are going. First of all the app I registered for Barclays was woking fine and suddenly get an error message say something about calling them. However I went into my Barclaycard app and they had transferred everything there.  However the Blue rewards had disappeared completely. I just applied for that one again and now seems to be set up. Also opened up a Rainy day saver account and no issues there.

I transferred £800 to my Barclays Bank account and was able to use part of the balance to pay off my Barclaycard.

I then tried to transfer a payment back to Lloyds but was greeted with a message about can take up 4 hours. However it never happened. I had an online chat and they said the app is still learning. However I found if you register the initial payment on the Barclays app then there is no issues and works fine.

Today  received a letter from my former bank detailing all my payments and the two active direct debits are shown. Also the debit card arrived at the same time. Although I could achieve most things online without needing the card.

The switch is due to complete on the 5 December so fingers crossed yet again all will go well.

Knowing Barclays' record on paying out blue rewards, they'll probably pay it twice.
...and in the Blue Reward's case they explicitly said you could keep it. Would they be so generous with a duplicated £175 B)

I used my debit card on 22nd Nov and paid in £200 to IWEB sharedealing. It hasn’t shown up yet on my cash back rewards.

I’m guessing that it isn’t an allowed transaction for the cash back ?

My switch completed on 22nd Nov. I also haven’t got the £175 yet

I was a little worried and didn’t think it would work because it didn’t look like my direct debits were in place when Barclays sent me the switch letter. However, they appeared on the app before the actual switch took place so I am hoping that it will be fine

It's 23:59 tomorrow. Full credit to Barclays they actually called me in the middle of the night to reslove this after I tweeted them 👍
This gives people a way to delay their switch by an extra day if needed. Just wait until after the (7pm?) cut-off time for the switching service, and the switch won't start until Friday.
I would not advise this, they said it's a known issue that switching in the app can have problems outside working hours.

Sadly I started my switch yesterday just before midnight now because I got scared … I guess there is no way to delay now to hope for my DD to show up in time?
I messaged NatWest (where I am switching from) and they assured me Direct Debits were set up but (gave me a list of names) but said they don't show up in the Direct Debit category in the app or in online banking until they have been paid for the first time. I hope I'll be fine. Very confusing as other banks have DD listed as soon as they are set up.
I found this to be true for RBS (same banking group) so all will be fine I'm sure.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

Opened Barclays account on 6th November. Joined Blue Rewards on 11th November and got email confirming this. Had 3 direct debits paid out between 10th - 13th November on my switching out account (Natwest). Paid in £830 on 14th November and started switch on 15th November and completed 22nd November. Been using Barclays as my everyday account and over £1100 has gone through this account this month and got my £10 cashback already for spending over £200. Checked my documents in APP just now and Barclays saying I don't qualify for Blue Rewards. Are Barclays trying to not pay out the bonus now. I think I qualify regarding the T&C's. Got a email last week from Barclays then another one saying they put the wrong subject in it!. Has anyone else got the same letter in their documents in APP?.
I going to call them later. Any chance they would pay me a goodwill gesture when they see their mistake lol.
    TIA.

So I did the Barclays switch recently, and received the £175. As part of that it offered me a Premier account and to save having to go into a branch I just accepted it.

Today, I received the an email from Barclays promoting their switch service and amongst there it had this offer for joining Barclays Avios Rewards for a joining bonus of 25000 Avios.

    Now my question is:
    1. Does anyone have any experience of if Barclays would pay this in addition to the £175 they have already paid out and
    2. Would I need to switch in a second account to qualify or does the original switch qualify me for both (it just says needs to be switched in the first 3 months of opening the account)

Anyone have any experience of double dipping?
  • Hi guys.

Looks like my partne's switch DD has messed up.  So barclays did the switch from Nationwide on 24/11.  The two active DDs in my nationwide account were Moneybox and Plum.  Whereas Moneybox has been successful is transferring to Barclays and even managed to collect a DD payment on 27/11, Plum on the other hand has moved over to Barclays, but we've got a message on the Plum app that it has lost the link with the bank.  On barclays app, it shows both Moneybox and Plum, but Plum DD shows a message that no payments have been collected yet.

Have we messed up and is there any way of fixing this?  Thanks for your help.
