For reference I paid in £1 immediately upon opening the account, then set up a new trusted payee and sent it back as soon as my account was fully activated. The next day I had no trouble bouncing £800 there and back.

I did the £1 check which went through fine then did the few hundred out afterward but that was the one that got blocked. Barclays fraud team phoned me anyway and I confirmed it was me. They said the same thing that it was learning. Just curious though as I mentioned before, I'd done very similar behaviour with other banks but they hadn't flagged it, I assume Barclays must just be more sensitive.

Quick question on the direct debit. I have just set up two active direct debits on my burner account but they will only start taking out money on the 15th December. Does this still count as a "active" direct debits for the Barclays switch premium?

They count when they are set up on the donor account. This will be a minimum of 3 working days after requesting them.

I generally avoid sending more than one payment on the same day from a new account.Rawrzy said:masonic said:For reference I paid in £1 immediately upon opening the account, then set up a new trusted payee and sent it back as soon as my account was fully activated. To be honest since this is what I've always done with new accounts I hadn't even thought that it might have been considered suspicious. Possibly something to think about next time. Honestly I wasn't intending to withdraw anything (I'd shoved most of the money in the rainy day saver for the time being) but I wanted to pay for something. In the end I withdraw from a different savings account though since barclays blocked it.

No. The monthly fee is always taken if you are opted into Blue Rewards. The fee is not waived or refunded, so if you have insufficient funds in your account to cover it you can go overdrawn.federer said:to confirm blue rewards is £5 per month but gets refunded every month if you pay in £800 pm and have two direct debits going out that month ?
Quite separately, if you meet the terms of the Blue Rewards then they will credit your rewards wallet each month. There's a £5 reward for paying out 2x DDs each month (the money must actually be taken each month) and a few others for having Barclays insurance/mortgage products. You will then need to manually transfer this to your current account. The net result is the same, but it's an important distinction.1 -

Yes, the sooner the better, as you'll have a few days to pull from them on the Barclays side in order to earn the £5 DD reward this month.worriednoob said:So I guess I can go ahead now, right?
