Barclays £175 switch offer - new customers only, Nov 1 - 30 2023

As it was explained to me by the Barclays chap, you pay the £5 in advance for the month in which its paid. So You pay at the start of the month, you then have your two direct Debits come out during the month, you get the £5 you paid at the start of one month back in the following month. So, if you were to leave the Blue Rewards for example in the middle of the month, you wouldn't be charged £5 the following month but you would get the £5 back from the previous month.tryin said:Does anyone know when the first £5 charge for blue rewards is taken? Does it work per calendar month or statement month? I switched with 2 direct debits, but they were already taken for this month, so if they charge me the £5 for this month I won't get it back. I'm wondering if it's worth creating new direct debits just for this month.1 -
Not true - Ive done multiple CASS switches using PayPal as one of the DDs to be switched - it works fine. The only glitch is that at PayPal's end the account number and name still shows the old one (I just assign it my own name) - other than that it works perfectly and im using them for multiple bonuses with no issuesmasonic said:It's well known that a Paypal DD stops working after a CASS switch and the new bank account needs to be set up separately at Paypal.3 -
That's good to know. Originally PayPal sent a notice that they couldn't update the account details as requested, but they don't seem to do that any more. I've never tried pulling from the old account listed in PayPal after a switch, but in this instance it should help me qualify for the DD reward for November after switching (which I won't be able to start for a few more days).antuk said:

To be fair to myself and others, the topic is 33 pages long. If these things were added to the first post then it'd work. I read the first 2 or 3 pages but didn't find the answer I was looking for so decided to ask. I even apologise for if it's been asked before. Obviously this post will not be solely about myself. But often on forums a lot gets lost in big threads and people simply don't have the time to filter through everything when it's far quicker to ask a question and receieve a reply. Plus then you can give 'thanks.'pecunianonolet said:After two days away I see lots of notifications so checking what is new, most of the conversation is about questions which have been asked a few pages before and kindly answered again and again.
Perhaps the starting point should not just be to find this topic but actually invest a few minutes and scan what's already been written?4 -
I just get a cuppa and read through. Only takes 10 minutes to be honest and I find answers to questions I hadn't even though of.Curls2208 said:

Apologies if this has been asked before but once the £175 has been paid , can I turn off Blue Rewards and stop paying the £800 pm in and just keep the account fee free with the direct debits in until I can use the account to switch again to another ?

I’ve got to the Submit Video + Continue stage of application. And when I press Submit it gives me There was a network error. Please check your connection.
Submitted a further four times same ‘error’. Went back and had to do the id and video again. Same error message x4. Up to date IOS and iPad next to router and every other page I access on the internet 🛜 comes up as the connection is working.
Any clue as to why this is happening?!

You can do that, sure. Worth keeping an eye on any Blue Rewards benefits though - for example, the Rainy Saver at 5.12% AER is still very competitive for any instant access savings up to £5k.
