Barclays £175 switch offer - new customers only, Nov 1 - 30 2023

I have done a few switches but this one I don't know what to say
Barclay says nothing but Monzo say
You've asked to switch
I'll just sit back and see where it goes0 -
My switch completes tomorrow. Today I received 3 separate letters from Barclays One saying we have started the switch. One saying switch will complete tomorrow and one showing the 2 dd’s being switched. What a waste of money in postsge fees as they have my email address0

Although our Barclays accounts are open and the Blue Rewards is setup, due to the way Barclays not providing an actual date of switch and from what others have said it seems to take approx 7-8 days, I'm going to hold off doing our switch until around the 17th to 20th Nov as this should hopefully give me an idea of my DDs being setup by then and also give me ample time to switch before the 30th Nov.0

The switch date can be chosen but only if you open an account in a branch. Obviously no good as bonus only paid if opened on App. I read this somewhere in Barclays switch terms and conditions. Best to delay opening until everything, i.e. DDs in place or you may not qualify for £175Cheers!!!4

applied for the standard account...
... answered all the question truthfully (as i must)
all very smooth, ID etc. accepted right through to the last stage when unfortunately I'm told "congratulations, based on your salary you've been accepted for the premier account", and that "to apply for the standard account - I will have to redo the application in branch".
Not interested in that (the premier account require a lot more cash flowing through the app)
on the flip side i guess i don't really "need" the money - although it would have been nice for a few minutes work.
Au-revoir Barclays. At least i don't seem to have messed up my Barclaycard app.
Barclays say "If your payments or balances drop below what you need to stay with Premier, we’ll let you know.", presumably they will just downgrade you to a normal account or close your account, I assume there would be at least a month before they even check to allow time for salary and with any luck the £175 will have paid out by then0 -

I'm beginning to think this is more to do with a glitch in their IT system somewhere, or a glitch with my account.
I was going to try the process using my andriod tablet, but the app isn't compatible with my tablet (not sure why, it's not even 2 years old).
Unfortunately, I don't have access to an Apple device to try that avenue either.
Definitely looks like I'm going to miss out on this one
Delete the app, re-install it, pretend you have no accounts with them, and set-up as a New to Bank customer with them. I did this and all is good now - hooray!
They claim my credit card should appear on my new account with them in 48 hours. If not, I need to contact them again.
Their social media team were very helpful, compared to their chat facility bods, who didn't really understand my issue, let alone suggest any solutions.0 -

Switch complete today as planned. Direct debits and remaining money from old account all moved over correctly.
App continues to work correctly after the initial settling in issues as reported.
Blue rewards was all set up without issue too.
Will update when switch incentive money paid.Best Regards,

I did mine on the 3rd, switch due to finish today. Already had notice from my CC company the direct debit changed for next month (was taken yesterday from donor) and the "sorry to see you go" letter from old. Had the card, paperwork confirming DD changes but switch still seems to be ongoing. Hopefully payment before mid-December, wonder if they will hang on as late as TSB did?!
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
