Deposited £800 in this morning to meet that criteria. Went to send it back to another account of mine but was hit with an error RPS01 message. Said If payment hasn’t gone through after 4 hours try again.
Did you manage to make a payment? I tried twuce yesterday, and once again this mornimg (the balance from my donor account us in there so switch has gone through) each time presented with RPS01 and no payment. I'm loathe to transfer £800 in if I can't get it back out.

Anyone had their debit card PIN yet
It's a security thing as a new account. Setup a new payee and expect a call from the fraud team to send it back. Or send a small amount both ways to establish it, then do the £800 later in the month

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Thanks @PRAISETHESUN - "This could be 1 DD mandate pulling multiple times.." How do I do this? Is there an easy thing I can set up?

AIUI that error has cleared for some people after around 4 days. For me, I got back into my old Online Banking profile (using Mobile PIN sentry on the app) and managed to send a 0.01 test payment from there. Once I'd done that, payments from the app were OK so I don't know if the two are related.

I have 2 direct debits on my "burner" account which I want to use to switch to Barclays. They both come out on the 1st of each month. Does this mean that I will be charged £5 for having the Barclays account this month as I won't meet the criteria required in November?
Any other issues you guys can see that may arise by my direct debits not coming out until 1st December?
    Thanks!
You get charged the month after you join.
Ahh! The month AFTER? So if I join today and get the account fully set up in November, there is no charge until December?

My account's been open longer than 4 days though.

It's not a new payee, it's one of the payees transferred from the donor account (though of course that's new to Barclays), and it is only a small amount (tried both £10 and £1, failure each time)

As my cards disappeared from the app (which has a view PIN option), I thought I'd try via Online Banking which also has that option... and got another error! I don't actually need the PIN for anything, so will wait for it to drop on the doormat.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten the view PIN option, so no letter but I do now know my PIN.

This happened to me. If you setup a new payee and enter the details the transfer should work. Of course its a bit of hassle but it worked for me.

Things like Moneybox/Plum/PayPal can be used to set up DDs which can pull on a weekly/ad hoc basis. These only count as 1 DD for switching purposes, but since the Blue Rewards only cares about DD payments being taken from your account, one of these can satisfy the on-going reward requirements if you use them to make multiple DD payments each month. I have these set up to pull weekly so I'll always have 4-5 DDs going out each month.
  • Sorry to be a pain, but I can't figure out how to set up a direct debit on paypal!
Is it the "direct payment" via Xoom?
Is there somewhere that explains how to do this?
