Only problem we had in the process was trying to read the instruction on making the video without our reading glasses
as our driving licences don't have us with reading glasses on obviously
Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy1 -
So after all this my wife won't be able to get the £175 as she was a customer previously0

Thanks for clarifying that @Volcane. Yes it does certainly.
I've hit a bit of a hurdle because I'm trying to setup my Plum account to change the DD from our joint Nationwide account to my sole account, but Plum keeps showing a technical error. I chatted with them, but they are absolutely useless and have said that it's now with their technical team.
This means that I'm stuck until all this farce is sorted. So my questions are that since the Barclays offer is time-limited, what do you recommend I do in terms of setting up DD and should I should go ahead and open the barclay account now or should I wait until the DDs are setup and active?

The way Plum adds accounts is via open banking so I wonder if it is getting confused by you wanting to connect to Nationwide when you already are connected to them with a different account. Just a guess though.worriednoob said:Thanks for clarifying that @Volcane. Yes it does certainly.

Other good DDs: MoneyBox, PayPal.
There is a thread on this forum with a comprehensive list.
There is nothing stopping you opening the Barclays account in the meantime. As an aside, Plum cannot connect to Barclays until the account is 4 days old.1 -

Opened an account with the app, answered all the questions
Deposited £10 joined blue rewards
Selected the switch all in 15 minutes painlessly
Not received any confirmation so I'll wait and see how it goes
All your opening documents will most likely have been sent to you electronically - they are available to view in the app under "More", "Statements and documents", then "documents". The switch confirmation one might take a few days to appear based on what a few other people said earlier in the thread.Indout96 said:

My only concern is that I've read somewhere that you must have NEVER had a barclays account. The last Barclays account myself or my partner had was around 18-20 years ago. So is this not acceptable?
The terms are a bit ambiguous as has been discussed. Personally, I read them as you are eligible for the offer as long as you didn't have a current account that was open on 31 Oct - note "hold" (present tense) in the actual offer wording provided by Barclays, not the paraphrased versions provided by MSE or elsewhere. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out - I'm expecting Barclays will start to be overwhelmed with complains in a month or so if they don't take a more liberal stance on this...2 -
I now have a paper "Your current account is being switched" letter, and a "List of payment arrangements for your account switch" letter (two separate letters - this must cost them a fortune) through the post.0

My account *should* switch on Thursday.0

As others said, there is a vast amount of options to get DD. You could look to get https://www.currensea.com/ they also pay £10 cashback, I think with Top Cashback. They struggle to set up a DD with new accounts but you can set up a secondary DD with a new account. Worst case, you only make a 10er in cashback. Charity donations are also possible, you might be able to amend a council tax DD, a mobile phone DD, credit card DD or gas, electricity, water DD, etc. Sometimes you can also change the date when they are taken. Might be a bit of fuss but worth it in my opinion.boingy said:

Got the same by snailmail today. Would rather have £200 in incentive rather than money wasted for paper and postagenorthwalesd said:I now have a paper "Your current account is being switched" letter, and a "List of payment arrangements for your account switch" letter (two separate letters - this must cost them a fortune) through the post.1
