The APP is now allowing me to send money, so looks like there is a 4 day delay before this can happen.  I thought my money would be stuck in Barclays until my card arrived.

So, after all this, I think everything is finally working for me.  Popped into branch and they downgraded the offered Premier account to a basic, no issues.  That took about 24 hours to show on the app.

Like others, opening the account on the Barclays app screwed up my Barclaycard app (error 00002) but the branch checked that everything was linked on their system and within 48 hours, my Barclaycard magically appeared on the Barclays app, so just be patient with that as it can take a couple of days for the different products to sync up.  You should not have to do anything manually - it will happen as long as your registered phone number is the same for both products.

FFHillbilly's tip to get the Blue Rewards to work on Android worked perfectly for me (press back on the phone screen, rather that 'ok' on the error, and then scroll down and select the right bank account and 'yes' to the T&Cs).

I also got my £800 stuck due to needing the debit card to confirm the payee for the transfer back out, however the Barclays app allows you to view all your debit card details needed to authorise a transfer, so I just had to get the details from the app rather than waiting for the physical card to arrive, so that is all set up now.

Got my two DD's set up on my donor account and they are now showing on that, so switch initiated - fingers crossed.

It has been a bit of a hassle, but hopefully now it is all sorted, it will be relatively smooth from now on.
  • Same for me, credit card now appeared in the app, although unable to see full details and debit card is now showing all details. Was able to move my £800 out after setting up a new payee with my details again, as I already had one set up by the hotline.

Looks like their IT is a bit slow merging all details. However, their welcome letter is inconsistent with their actions of blocking payments for 4 days. Probably another sort of fraud prevention measure, which I am fine with, but they should tell in the welcome letter and make that fact clear.

Do you really mean the Barclays basic current account? (no incentive) or the Barclays current account (incentive)?

Yes, sorry, I mean just the standard Barclay's Current Account.  When I applied, they only offered me the Premier which I did not want.  I went into branch, explained the situation and they confirmed they would just downgrade it to the regular current account included in the Switch offer.  I have checked the app and it is showing the standard (not 'basic') account.

They do make it a bit of a faff by not letting you select which account you want if they deem you 'Premier'.

My Barclaycard also now showing in the Barclays app, so guess I ditch the Barclaycard app. In fact when I logged in just now it displayed a message along the lines of "all app functionality is now available to you".

I wouldn't describe it as a nightmare, but it isn't straightforward, and all seems a bit 'buggy'

My barclaycard cards now showing in the banking app perfectly now too. And banking details are showing in the credit card app perfectly too. It’s as if everything corrected itself over night.

Essentially both the Barclaycard credit card app and the Barclays banking app are indentical once logged into them… it’s just the app name and icons that differ… I could probably delete one of them but not gonna risk it.

Still awaiting my physical debit card but can see its details in the app ( and allows me to choose my own design for a £10.00 fee )
    Best Regards,

    V
  • Has anyone received any correspondence for their switch? I started mine on Friday but haven’t had any emails or texts about it.

No correspondence received, but the donor account payees have been setup. It does seem like the Blue Rewards fee for 2nd December might not be "waivable" if your DDs fire early in the month and don't have any more. However, if you cancel within 14 days and have not received any benefits Barclays will refund it; trouble is joining Blue Rewards is needed to trigger the 28 working days period for the bonus, so may not be worth delaying joining just to potentially save a fiver.

When did you initiate the switch? I opened the account on the 1st when it was launched and directly initiated the switch after and been told completion day is the 10th. In the Documents section in the app I find the letter with my details and it is all dated 3rd. My DD at the donor account are due today. Guess I am a 5er out on the £175 incentive.
