I logged on to Barclaycard online servicing and they had a hyphen listed under my home phone number (presumably added when they merged profiles). I was able to delete that, but still got error 00002 via the Barlcays app. I had a savings account with them years' ago so there might be other out of date data they've merged. I thought GDPR would have prevented using stale information and borking things up.

My payee to my own account is now showing. Perhaps because the hotline set it up. Was able to transfer my funds back out but got a message RPS01 that my payment may have not gone through yet. I should wait 4 hours to check if it has left the account and if not to try sending it again. Funds still showing. Still unable to activate blue rewards.
I've just had the RPS01 message when attempting a payment to my own account. Also, I can't download my Welcome Letters and other correspondence under my documents (error message shown). I'm getting screenshots of this shambles just in case I need it later.

I'm like @sarunas95, my Barclaycard app now refuses to run. Error 0002 when trying to login. Might try uninstalling and reinstalling, though I'll have to try and remember my PIN.
  • My wife had the error UD001 on android when trying to join Blue Rewards and we ended up logging into the website and was able to join that way.

She signed up for the cashback as well after.

This is really lucky as she only left Barclays a couple of months ago.
  • @poshrule_uk Hope it works out. According to twitter DM you need to sign up to Blue Rewards through the app. Although they messed the sign up for some so who knows.

Reading the website "Open a sole Barclays Bank Account in the app and join Barclays Blue Rewards" and the T&Cs "Download the Barclays App and use it to apply for and open a sole Barclays Bank Account and join Blue Rewards" it could be interpreted that you don't need to use the app to join Blue Rewards IMO; obviously their twitter team think otherwise though! If that was their intention, to be unambiguous I would have written it:
In the app: open a sole Barclays Bank Account and join Barclays Blue Rewards OR using the app open a sole Barclays Bank Account and using the app join Barclays Blue Rewards
I've prepared a complaint via letter. I don't really have the inclination to spend time on the phone or trek to a branch to debug their technical issues. I want the £175 and if they've obstructed me from doing that due to their shortcomings, bad luck for them.

I can confirm that you don't need the app to join Blue rewards, or at least you didn't in May. It can be done online
  • Cheers all, I have my fingers crossed and will report back.

Do Barclays generally take 28 days to pay or do they generally pay as soon as the conditions are met?

You are right.  I just got the pop up error message, I pressed the back button at the bottom of my phone screen and it let me join.  Superb.
