I've just sent £800 to my new Barclays account and now it's stuck there as the APP is saying it takes 4 days before I can make payment out of my account.  A bit frustrating.
Same here, totally ridiculous. Still can't activate rewards and not able to get the money out either. Now hoping the hotline can help and set up a payee or move the funds. Telling me at account opening my account is open and fully functional, what a lie.

Couldn't apply initially via app as I only had a credit card with them and there was no option to apply. Deleted the app and downloaded the app again and was able to apply for the current account. Downloaded now the Barclaycard app. Can't log in with existing details, new registration and now they need to send me a card reader I didn't need in previous years to access my credit card.

My switch is due to complete on the 10th... what a faff

I was a Barclays user for 20 years but used it as part of my switch earlier on in the year. Am I eligible to switch into one?

I have a Barclays credit card so use the app. I tried to apply for their Bank Account last night, but noticed Current Accounts wasn't showing up after tapping Products. It was however, showing this morning.

I've tried to apply just now, but it says we cannot open an account for you currently. Try later or contact us - words to that effect anyway.

    Will try tomorrow.

There are different views on this due to a defective ineligibility criterion (the first).

In my view and that of the senior person in Barclays I spoke to yesterday you are not ineligible as you don't have and didn't have one of the listed accounts at the start of the offer (31st October). However I am going to pass on this one even though I am not ineligible either ... Barclays are such a pain and from the comments here they haven't changed since I closed my account in 1981.

Right, 1 hour waiting time on the hotline followed by almost another hour of chat. Result, £800 stuck.

First, I was told I need to accept a push notification for security, answer some questions as usual. Was told we can return the funds and had to give the account details again where I wanted the funds to go. Had to listen to the usual spiel about fraud, now system said no. Now was told we might be able to do a lower amount of 500, failed as well. Apparently there is not high enough security for this. To my question of interest loss the answer was there is nothing that can be done and I need to wait.

Thought I do damage control and open their Everyday Saver with a table toper rate of 1.66% AER. The account opened and is showing and I could initiate a transfer but it's dated 6th November as it probably is too late in the day and they don't operate and honour calendar dates.

The only thing I was able to get out of it is my membership ID.

Will wait until all stuff comes through with snailmail next week, get it all done with and hand in a complaint on the grounds that the welcome letter states that the account is fully operational and I can make and receive payments.

"We're delighted to let you know that your new account is now up and running. You can start paying in money, making and receiving payments, and savings for the things you love. These are your account details: "

As highlighted by me, the receiving element works but not the making element.

Advice to everyone: DO NOT PAY ANY FUNDS INTO YOUR NEW ACCOUNT!!!

pecunianonolet, I'll be right behind you with my complaint, I literally emptied my account at Royal Bank thinking the money would be back there in minutes.

I've got a minimal amount in there, but in another thread on MSE it states people have had £5 taken twice this month for Blue Rewards (acknowledged by Barclays as an error and in the process of being refunded) so it's probably worth having enough to account for their "quirks" . Still getting UD001 as well, I don't think putting £800 will make any difference given the useful feedback on this thread.
  • Seems maybe the issue with the UD001 error might be an Android app issue. I opened an account in the app on my Android phone yesterday as there wasn't a "I'm new to Barclays" option on the 1st of November. I was also getting the error when trying to sing up to blue rewards yesterday and today.

I thought I'd try download the app on my work phone which is an iPhone. Signed in and was able to set up blue rewards first time. Think another poster said the same earlier in this thread.

If you're using an android device and have access to an iPhone or an iPad try on that but hopefully they fix the issue for the android app soon.
  • Tried applying tonight (using iPhone app), after the app repeatedly crashed during the ID check I got to the end of the application and got "You didn't pass our credit check, but we can offer you a Barclays Basic Current Account".

I have a perfect credit rating, so either Barclays are very picky or another error in the application process.

Has anyone else failed the credit check unexpectedly?

Both the standard snd Premier accounts qualify for the switch incentive. Was you trying to apply for the Premier?
