E-on Next 25% Discount Winter Support Scheme
Comments

I ignored two or three emails in the last couple of weeks from Eon offering the winter support discount but finally managed to phone up on Friday and around 5 or 10 minutes later, found myself on the Winter Support 50 tariff.Only lasts another five months, but nice to know that my energy usage is at least 'deemed' to come from fully renewable energy up until the start of April when it hopefully start getting warmer again, in addition to having a gas and electric tariff that currently looks more like the prices you would get on fixed deals before this energy/cost of living crisis blew up!0

took me 5 mins on the phone to be swapped over yesterday so they are clearly taking people on it0

I received the payment on 18 October 2023 and last year too.

4 days later I got an SMS text, and a day later I phoned them up and been on the 25% scheme since yesterday. My eligibility was due to the 19K limit and I completed an Income and Expenditure form showing a deficit.
BTW I had been on VDD but have had to go onto Fixed DD to go onto the 25% tariff.
I called the correct department a few days ago and the person said they'll pass it on to the correct department and they'll contact you in a few days, great I thought. All he did was register my interest again and i've again been asked to complete an income and expenses (online).
I also called the complaints team to raise the issue, so that they can tell me why I don't qualify under the WHD core group 2. He refused to register it, saying it was a 'business decision'. That's when he gave me the number for the 'credit department' who handle the scheme.
The guy in the credit department said the WHD criteria is that you must have received it for the past 3 years (I have) and he also said it's 'heresy' that all debt will be wiped off after the term (for those with a debt). When I replied that it's there in black and white on their website he kind of apologised but I got the impression he didn't care.
So, I go nowhere.
Upto now i've not needed to pay by direct debit as it's always been on receipt of bill.
They've not told me "it's because you don't pay by direct debit" they just say "you're not eligible".
Just change it, if I was in your shoes I would have already done it, you dont meet the set out conditions.
Do it quickly because they can pull this whenever they like for new applicants.

Only one of those do you have any control over, and it's the one you can either rule in or out. I'd have thought it worth the potential tariff reduction to try and find out.0 -

The c.7% saving on your energy might be worth doing that anyway. And if you're then still not eligible, you can change to variable DD so you're only paying based on meter readings like your are now, but monthly and still with the DD discount.0 -

Result !! Thanks all on here for the advice.
Email sent to the ceo team who confirmed i'm eligible for the Winter 50 scheme and to call to set this up. Just did it now. They said the WHD makes me eligible, which is what I was saying. Also mentioned income of £19,000 but that was secondary. The person who setup the scheme did want to go through my income and expenses but i said i've done this through paylink last week so seems no one has looked at that yet.
A separate issue is that the direct debit for November 2023 to March 2023 is higher than it should be because my bills are very high, my electricity usage from e.on is almost the same as the price cap and I pay for gas separately which takes me near £3,000 a year for both. My gas usage is high also and not all due to the debt.
I've raised billing with both suppliers and last winter I paid upto £600 a month (£400 electricity and £200 gas) for several months November to January.
I'm happy that i've finally got on the scheme but there's a loss against some others because i'm not duel fuel with e.on. Had I been then i'd be getting 50% off the gas bill too. BG are no help at all.0 -
It's not the current debt write off at end of offer period, i.e. not the debt on the date you sign up.
I was told they will write off any debt in April 2024 as it was on 30 September 2023 not what it is now.
They set the direct debit at your estimated monthly bill (yearly divided by 12) minus 50% and any use over still has to be paid. So if you pay £150 a month dd and actual bill is £200 then the £50 extra still has to be paid.

Wow nice that eon help their customers we qualify for whd every year but due to edf taking over our electric supply without consent we are now billed for gas and electric with eon but edf supply our electric???
erroneous transfer they called it taking over our supply even though we cancelled our contract with edf within the 14 days cooling off period! Still waiting for edf to transfer our supply bk to eon this was in July they tk it over !Won’t hold my breath raised a complaint 4 wks ago so anotha 4 wks b4 I go to energy ombudsman. So probably won’t get whd stuck in limbo can’t get any dual fuel tariffs until it’s transferred bk.
Been an utter mess for 5 months paying eon but edf still supply us on national grid even though we set up an account with eon and pay them direct debit…
To top it all off my partner is disabled so could do with the extra help but with edf taking over our supply even after we cancelled with them we won’t and can’t do anything not even have smart meters fitted edf r a law u to themselves so we’re stuck on standard tariff no deals no help no whd and paying eon who actually don’t supply us until edf do an erroneous transfer back to eon nice.0 -
So won’t be able to apply for this extra help either feel like cancelling our direct debits and not paying any1 until our supply is sorted out how can edf take over our supply after we cancelled the contract on time is worrying!0
