Hello
Excuse me for being a bit sceptical around benefits being offered - I have received an email from E-on Next offering me up to a 25% discount on their winter support scheme if I sign up - it says until 31 March 2024.  I know it sound too good to be true but does anyone know if you switch you are then stuck on a tariff that may in the long run cost you more or is this a good offer?  Thanks

If you are offered it then grab it. This is a great deal.

Anybody being offered this should be grabbing it with both hands,PDQ.
I'd love 25%,potentially 50% off my bill, with any outstanding debt wiped at the end of the term.
Only downside, for those in the anti smart faction is that you must have a smart meter or agree to get one as part of the terms,a cunning plan/ruse indeed.

This was the response I got from Eonnext when I contacted them about this..

Thank you for getting in touch, hope all is well

If an offer is not listed on our website but is instead mentioned from an outside source please do not follow it as it will mislead. In terms of assistance with bills we issue emails to customers who qualify and they are informed of such offers.

However we do not mention this to outside sources and get them to promote it. I hope that has clarified any misconceptions.

    Kind regards E.ON NEXT

Well that perhaps could be a useful response from Eon if not for the fact that the offer is in fact listed on their website… https://www.eonnext.com/blog/winter-affordability-support-scheme

Although one thing is clear, they do seem to be operating this offer on a “don’t call us, we’ll call you” basis. So would seem right now it’s tough luck for anyone who may meet the criteria but hasn’t been correctly identified by Eon’s own “team of vulnerability experts”
    Moo…

Knowing the way Eon Next were selective for their energy saving events in the summer this will largely be a tick box exercise to look good and in no way reach all their eligible customers as it should.

There is already a problem with their blog saying one thing (people with household involved below £19,000 being eligible) but their T&Cs saying another (people in receipt of the WHD being eligible - nothing about the £19k threshold) and the reality being that people are being told they meet the criteria but still aren't eligible - ???

They've update the blog now to refine eligibility mentioned, but they do specify an income/expenditure deficit - which the T&Cs don't, at all.

That blog is misleading, I think this was mentioned in the SC thread, I got mislead by it and was corrected.

It indicates its for their most vulnerable customers, but many of the most vulnerable wont qualify, it indicates its for customers with less than 19k income and/or using specific equipment, but again many with that criteria it seems wont be eligible, the actual eligibility seems to be centred around if you already eligible for the WHD.  This is also mentioned in the same page, so reading the document from top to bottom it isnt consistent.  Its also it seems not everyone on the WHD either.

However it does also say "previously eligible for broader WHD group", so that might catch those who used to get on the older less controversial WHD.  I dont want to jump in and say this is the case though as this blog it seems needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, hopefully spoonie knows if previous WHD eligibility is actually true.

The way I currently interpret it, taking into account what spoonie already told me. (the 19k isnt mentioned in bottom eligible section).

Must be on current WHD or previously on broader group WHD.
Must also be below 31k income and use specific equipment.
    Must pay by fixed DD.
    Must have a i&e deficit.
Must agree to install a smart meter if dont already have one.
