I received the payment on 18 October 2023 and last year too.

4 days later I got an SMS text, and a day later I phoned them up and been on the 25% scheme since yesterday. My eligibility was due to the 19K limit and I completed an Income and Expenditure form showing a deficit.
BTW I had been on VDD but have had to go onto Fixed DD to go onto the 25% tariff.
I called the correct department a few days ago and the person said they'll pass it on to the correct department and they'll contact you in a few days, great I thought. All he did was register my interest again and i've again been asked to complete an income and expenses (online).
I also called the complaints team to raise the issue, so that they can tell me why I don't qualify under the WHD core group 2. He refused to register it, saying it was a 'business decision'. That's when he gave me the number for the 'credit department' who handle the scheme.
The guy in the credit department said the WHD criteria is that you must have received it for the past 3 years (I have) and he also said it's 'heresy' that all debt will be wiped off after the term (for those with a debt). When I replied that it's there in black and white on their website he kind of apologised but I got the impression he didn't care.
So, I go nowhere.1 -
I'll be quite honest here, I think Eon started this as an invitation only scheme, and now they've got too many people applying, and that was never the plan, so they're making you jump through hoops, hoping you'll give up.0

Eon do have a history of not including everyone even though they are equal to their initiatives.
As stated up there it's a business decision to offer these discounts and their is no complaints escalation process should they refuse anyone for any reason as it's outside Ofgems remit.
As others have said they may well have reached their maximum number of people they can put on this initiative without affecting their profitability and stability so it may be tough luck for those not on it however unfair that may feel.
You have lost anything you just haven't gained anything.0 -
just to say i am now on the winter 25 tariff even though they could not fit a smart meter, was very easy to sought out and will make a big difference this winter
hope others manage to access it0 -

I will call them as it is nothing to do with debt, my account is always in credit, I dont have a smart meter, it is possibly something around health vulnerability, I just dont want to be in a tariff that in the long run will cost me more money.0 -

Entirely possible, friend of mine was refused access to a low income scheme from Octopus early last year, the email she got back was extremely odd, and I could only interpret it as a brush off.
It was basically no response at all from her application, after I pushed her hard to query it, the reply was a basic apology with no reason given or advice on how to proceed, and she was very hesitant to apply in the first place so that was the end of it.

Upto now i've not needed to pay by direct debit as it's always been on receipt of bill.
They've not told me "it's because you don't pay by direct debit" they just say "you're not eligible".0 -

According to the MSE article being already on fixed DD is one of the criteria to be eligible

Since you can't see any other reason according to their times that you're not eligible, the only two options left are a) you not being on DD, b) them being arbitrary with the rules and just randomly allowing some people and not others.
Only one of those do you have any control over, and it's the one you can either rule in or out. I'd have thought it worth the potential tariff reduction to try and find out.0
