NST October 2023 A New Start

Hi guys
I was going to do a small stock up shop today but my sore throat has turned into a full snuffly/sneezy cold so this afternoon I’m going to stay in and have a nanny nap instead.
So this will be NSD 2
Today I’m grateful for having plenty of food in, for a nice blue sky and for OH being out of hospital, it was lonely when he wasn’t home.
June NSD 8/1510 -
Welcome, Cuddlemarm. I hope both your and your OH's health continue to improve. You'll get lots of support from our friendly Turtles on here.
Electricians arrived really early to do the safety check. I was still in bed. But they ignored the mess and got on with it. Two lovely men. Upside was I got lots of jobs done and the house is now looking tidier if not exactly perfect but there are more important things in life than a perfect home.
Not an NSD, Sent Himself to Aldi for some veg. He did come back with a fish pie mix than we don't strictly need but it was reduced so I'll let him off with it.
His friend phoned a little while ago so we're meeting him for a quick lunch and catch up tomorrow. Been simply ages since we saw him so really looking forward to it. Been neglecting the social side of our life recently.
I'm getting really stressed by phone calls from NHS asking me to continually confirm that I'm going to attend hospital appointments. I suppose there must be lots of people who just don't turn up costing NHS lots of money but it is really stressful when you miss a call that is asking you to confirm something again and again. I'm always worried that it's bad news.
So, some lovely meat and potato pies that I brought back from Northumberland for dinner. They are so delicious and we can't buy them here.
Have a lovely evening everyone. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
Good afternoon! ⛅
Thank you for the Wellness Wednesday post grandmanerd. Loved it. I also could resonate with the poem. Always felt growing up I had to become something amazing... never that I was already amazing. I think it hit in school so can't blame my parents completely. They just wanted me to have a 'good job' so I could support myself. My Mum did a great job though - she spent a lot of time with me growing up.
Better day today - got myself to the gym... although like cuddlemarm (welcome to the group btw!) - my sore throat has now also progressed into snuffles. Feeling less zombie-like now I have reduced my medication dose though. That said... I can feel a nap coming on haha.
Today I am grateful for:
1) New and old friends
2) My mobility and physical health
3) My budgeting app that keeps me accountable
Today was another spend day!!! NSD total = 1
Looked up some recipe videos on youtube for cooking chicken so it isn't dry - so bought in a few spices for a rub, and some mince pies (yes they are in the shops already!!!) for my Dad for weekend. Looking forward to chicken that doesn't absorb every bit of moisture from your mouth very soon haha!
Have a lovely evening everyone 😚

Evening turtles. I forgot to post yesterday but it was a NSD. Work kept me really busy so my mind was very far from my purse!
Today I got up, did some yoga, and then batched cooked some lentil soup for lunches. Got a couple of loads of washing on and hoovered. Cleaner came and did the kitchen and bathroom - this is not MSE in the slightest but my OH barely helps with the household chores so I told him he had to pay for it! Hoping it takes some of the stress off me too. I also cleaned the aquarium. Worked from home and caught up on all my admin so that's a load of my mind (until tomorrow at least!).
Was a spend day as bought a magic bag from Too Good To Go (muffins - yum!). Also bought something I needed for aquarium maintenance as it was already a spend day.
Walked an hour's round trip to get the muffins after work. Traffic was gridlocked everywhere so looks like walking was definitely the right choice.Save £2,400 tuition fees - £2,321.04 as of 08/24
Pay off credit card by December 2024 - £1,450/£2,00011 -

I went shopping. Dropped the library book back as I passed the library. Walking is tiring (lots of little rests) but feels good. I decided to look if there was anything left in Wilko. It was nearly empty last time I went in but I thought if they'd had stock on order it might be worth a look (seasonal items are often ordered a year to 18 months in advance). It's now the pound emporium - not sure if the other one has closed yet but it was open.
However since I'd got that far I decided to round the corner to HB first. I got everything I needed except tapestry needles. Spent more than I'd planned to (nearly £40) but it included a present I'd seen and noted a few weeks ago (nearly sold out now), foods including a luxury item of a baked beans 6 pack (craving them), more red grapes (low on fruit now) and some things DS3 had asked me to get if I saw them, a few crafty bits (the glue stick came in a pack with assorted glues) including needle threaders which weren't on my list but are useful (only saw them because I looked through the whole row in the needle search) and medicinal items including 6 packs of hay fever pills (3 months), eye drops (I have some but the bottles are tiny and keep hiding) and a magnifying glass (peering and squinting won't do my eyes any good so better develop some good habits now).
Came outside, had a sit down and pondered where might have the needles. Remembered the new craft shop a little bit away from the pedestrian zone - I've been in for a look around but didn't buy anything. So I headed there (so no idea whether our existing £ emporium has closed) and picked up 2 packs - going to put them in different drawers so hopefully can find them again (I've been using one needle on 3 different projects and 2 days ago it went awol - the shop lady said she's the same with knotting needles). I had a quick look at ribbons and thread to tuck away in my head if I need something.
Came home, ate then came upstairs, had a nap, went down to make food (RM but it took 13 minutes) and took out a bag of cans and a bag of paper whilst waiting and moved one of the old garden chairs (I have one chair and one of the 50 l containers so can 'play around' with the arrangement before I start moving soil).
I've done lots of reading (very complicated and confusing book with many narrators) but not much internet and only easy crafting - sticking paper templates onto card (emptied drinks sleeves) which makes things much tidier and fills the paper bag again. I'm ready to settle down for the night, very tired but good tired, a lot of tension has gone from my body.
Grateful for naps, finding what I wanted with minimal shopping, the new craft shop.9 -

Oooh, f0xh0les has a double scaffold date🤣🤣🤣Today I am grateful for fun at the gym challenging myself with the kettle bells, for my counsellor, for having a car so I could nip up with dc's art stuff, for the feeling of sitting on the rug after hoovering it, for more rasps from the garden.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

How exciting @f0xh0les. It'll be finished before the end of the year & you can start 2024 in your new space 🥰
Very achy today from yesterday's core muscle yoga routine. Didn't exercise before work today. Wrapped a package up to send to Norway instead & collected DH's prescription.
Ran around quite a bit at work, so made up for no yoga. Quite a difficult morning, everything was a battle. Had a late dinner, the avocado I'd prepared to put on toast had started to separate in its container, so ended up with dry toast & 5 apricots. Thankfully someone had put chocolate in the staff room, so made my afternoon more bearable!
Posted the package on my way home, then got diesel. The prices are fairly rising again! Did my 100 skips faster tonight as it was raining & getting ready to be a real downpour.
Thankfully had an earlier tea, so I could tackle the super huge trousers to turn them into a lot smaller ones. Took 3.5 hours, plus what I did last night. Glad it's out of the way now.
Grateful that work besties liked her birthday present, chocolate in the staff room, that I've got the sewing frog done & will be able to enjoy tomorrow night better 😃Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
