Was having a very vivid dream & woke in the early hours. Thought I felt a bit queasy & could hear the washing machine - I couldn't, it was empty! Squinted at the clock & saw it was 5.30. Tried to nod off again, to no avail, so got up at 6.
Had my hot blackcurrant (don't drink tea or coffee) then set to & sorted through a cupboard in the kitchen, then made macaroni cheese for today & tomorrow's dinners. Read my book whilst having breakfast.
A good day at work, some children were off, so could spend some time with individual children. A 5 year old asked if I could have some quiet time with her, then another asked me to read. She told me she loved me, then with her fingers crossed, said they meant that she really loves me! How cute! 🥰 Gave a friend a lift home as 2 of her cars had broken down today.
Went to bed for an hour. Felt more refreshed afterwards. Did my skips after tea, then did 2 easy sewing jobs, followed by the ironing. Started a new series called Black Rain, enjoying it so far.
Grateful for a piece of birthday cake, a good day at work, making more space in the kitchenUse it up, wear it out

Changing the way you think
Learn to differentiate what's actually happening from what you're thinking. My cousin worries a lot. She's had a lot to deal with. She's inherited her narcissistic mother's house but isn't one of the executors. The house has asbestos ceilings, the boiler and most of the appliances are ancient and not fit for purpose. The flying monkey executors, her abusive ex and one of the cousins are all making her life difficult. Lots to do, lots going on (including full-time work) but she phones me and it's keeping her awake, circling round in her head. So when she phones me I try to make her stop 'what if'-ing and concentrate on one thing at a time. The ex's reappearance was a big red flag for me. He's just been thrown out by the latest woman he's been living with. He left a long time ago but she never divorced him (she hasn't known where he was and he's also refused to sign the papers he doesn't want her but thinks she 'belongs' to him). I told her to go and check with the solicitor that he didn't have any claim to her mum's money. That bit has worked out fine and divorce proceeds have now started (I told her that he'd been gone long enough for her to declare him dead, there must be some way of divorcing him).
One thing CBT teaches is that our thoughts are not reality. Our busy little brains are always trying to protect us from real and imaginary dangers. We see a friend on the other side of the road and they don't acknowledge us - what's wrong?, Have they fallen out with us?, Have we offended them in some way?, Has someone else said something to them about something you're supposed to have done?, What if all our friends side with her? In reality they probably haven't seen you, they may not have their glasses on or may be stressing about a health scare or losing their job or even the next item on their to do list. Yet our brains leap through a whole series of consequences.
"What you're supposed to do when you don't like a thing is to change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it, don't complain" (Maya Angelou)
When you change the way you feel, it changes the way you think. When you change the way you think, you change the way you deal with everything in life. (Sheila Burke)
Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realise that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge (Eckhart Tolle)
Maybe sometimes people did not actually change. Maybe you never knew who they really were.
I'm making some changes in my life. If you don't hear anything from me, you were one of them.

Oh you are indeed wise this Friday @grandmanerd. I am second guessing builders and roofers and what-if'ing all over the place inside my head. I can't do it outside my head or DH will panic even more than he already is.
Next week something with scaffolding will occur, and hopefully the week after, the scaffolders will take the scaffold away again and the job will be done for another 50 years and I will not be living here by then so I will not care.
It will all be over by C-Word, everyone will have a stocking, the roof will not leak, I will be stressing about something else 😘4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thank you all for your support. They didn't go ahead with the biopsy as I apparently have inflammation in the other lung. Nothing to worry about, apparently. Probably a chest infection or the remains of it and the radiologist isn't too worried by the nodule in the other lung as it hasn't altered in six months. So hopefully a little respite.
Good news another NSD.
Hopefully get my head back to normal now. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
Had a good productive day today. I did remember to put the alarm and woke up early for the yoga class, which I found much harder than last week, it's incredible how sometimes exercising doesn't feel easier with time, it's more like up and down depending on the day!
Anyway, it did set me up ahead for the day, as I managed to tidy up and hoover before I started working. Now I'm doing some last few things before I properly relax for the evening. Today it was a NDS, but I doubt tomorrow it will be, I have a few things I need to buy, and tomorrow morning I will most probably do some volunteering (I try to go once a week but I haven't been since August) and I often end up buying something to eat when I finish, so I will take advantage of that.
Not sure what we are going to eat tonight, as the fridge is looking rather sorry for itself. I did make the Marmite spaghetti last night, and they were actually very nice! We both had a double portion, so there were no leftovers for today. Oops!Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

All the washing has gone out on the line and a new load set off in the WM. Five of the 50 l containers are mostly filled. I ache all over and I'm going to settle down with my book. I got through to the chemist and put in my repeat prescription order and some bags of recycling went in the bins.
Grateful for good work, being able to walk across the yard and step sideways without having to hold on to things, my bed and new pillows.4 -
Sending hugs @Toni'sfriend, hope the scaffolding goes to plan @f0xh0les, how have a missed this marmite spaghetti recipe?! I'm equal parts intrigued and equal parts disgusted lol.
Didn't post yesterday as I had a really long day at work. Was hoping to call the bank to check if there's a slightly better interest rate available for us from November but haven't had a chance, need to do that tomorrow before it's too late. Yesterday I was on the go so much, barely even stopped for lunch, but it meant that spending wasn't even in my thoughts.
Today I was hoping to hide out at home but we had an emergency at work so had to go in to deal with it. All I can say is I'm absolutely sick of dealing with murders (there's a sentence and a half). I also got a parking ticket because unbeknownst to me my permit had run out weeks ago. Our admin usually sorts it but the main person retired recently so I never got notified and tbh I don't even check it myself as she was always so on it. I've appealed it but will see what happens, the local authority I work for is bankrupt so they probably need the moneygood job I plan to get the train most of next week as I won't be driving in that's for certain! In the grand scheme of things a parking ticket pales into insignificance compared to what I dealt with today so I can't get too annoyed.
Another NSD today and am currently on call doing some overtime. Was also meant to be doing it tomorrow but someone offered to take over so I get the day to myself, which I am eternally grateful for!

Pleased you got good news today & you've got some respite now @Toni'sfriend. The chaise lounge is ready for you 😊
I've had a lovely day, despite being woken in the night 3 times by a cat! With working in a school Joe Wix is offering 3 months free membership of his app. Did the first workout today. As I made today's dinner yesterday, I had time to read my book whilst eating my breakfast.
Work went really well. I'd said to the head teacher something that I'd got the pupil to do, she told me that I'm really good with them & the methods I use, & other folk could learn a lot from me! It was nice to be complemented.
Stopped off at our local C00p to get milk on the way home. In 2 weeks it's going to change over to an 4sda, so some things are being slightly reduced. Saw a protein bar I can give DS2 next week (I give the other 2 boys a small sweet thing & £5 when it's the other one's birthday, DS2 doesn't eat sweets any longer, so this would be ideal for him), used my accrued dividend, so my 2 things only cost 53p 😃
Did my skipping, then after tea I finally got around to putting money in my sinking funds. Poured myself a tipple, got some chocolate out of the fridge, put a film on & did some of my rug - first time in weeks!
Grateful for a good day, my pupil from last year baking brownies for the staff room, compliments from the head, a night off from sewing (oh & the jeans fitted perfectly, apparently!)Use it up, wear it out
