Sunday 1st October 2023
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In it's place will be something you have left behind. Let it be something good.
How to handle stress like a dog
If you can't eat it or play with it, then pee on it and walk away
This Year
Recognise your uniqueness
Offer your support to someone who needs it
Keep going
Focus on love, forgiveness and peace
Keep growing
Steer clear of people and things that wound you
See the love around you
Strive to be happy
Speak and be heard
Support what is right in the face of what is wrong
Look forward and live today
My mind is like someone emptied the junk drawer onto a trampoline.
This month I will be dealing with the 'muddle'. It's actually way beyond muddle (quite a lot of ticks on the 'hoarder' scale) but my brain can cope with 'muddle'. Things slipped out of control whilst I was ill and I was barely in control for several months before that. I'm frustrated, a bit angry (but not wasting any energy on arguing or fighting) and my standing up time is greatly reduced (1 minute) and doing anything time is not much better. I'm going to work on making things better one baby step at a time, reclaiming my house, clearing the clutter, setting up the garden so it's easy to work in and enjoyable rather than yet another hazard zone. I'm hoping to get it 'okay' by the end of the year. It won't be perfect and there's lots I'm stuck with for now but I will do what I can and get as much 'out of my house' as possible.
I won't be looking at things, wondering whether I can 'fix' them but will try to go direct to out of the house. I have an oldish (1930s/1940s) set of drawers I acquired about 7 years ago but were formerly used in a back bedroom to store diy stuff and mainly junk for at least 25 years. They aren't beautiful, the veneer is peeling off, the handles are 'mean' (too small, metal and an awkward shape). I now have 3 sets of wooden drawers in much better condition that I love. The bed is jammed up against this set, so only the top drawer is usable. I could work on them and improve them but it would be a lot of work and is it worth it. I spent my childhood sanding down old pieces of furniture and repainting and then did the same with other people's cast offs for my children. I could re-use the drawers as 'under the bed' storage (not my bed). I could prolong their useful life by using the drawers as raised beds. But I'd still have a disposal problem after that (and by then I might be too old to deal with them properly. So they're on the list for collection by the Council and I've started a list of things I don't want to keep.
You know you're over 40 when you have 'upstairs ibuprofen' and 'downstairs ibuprofen'.

Good morning lovely Turtle-friends!Please do your meter readings today, as the rates and charges change from 1/10 and you do not want to be paying more than you have to. If you are on a pay meter, stick £1 on the card/app so it reminds the billing system to update your rates. You can do your normal reading on your normal reading day. Every penny helps. Do it today.October is a busy month in F0xh0le T0wers, 2 birthdays, DH's book gets published, parents evenings (just kill me now and end the suffering), and one single solitary day of paid employment.... plus scaffolding and a new roof. So it will be very spendy, but I have the money, it has been budgeted for and saved and allocated, and a very long time coming.Next week we will have been mortgage-free for one whole year. It is a massive weight off the family finances, and so saving is easier. I am naturally a squirreller. DH is not, but he actually, seems to be getting on board with this, finally.Today will be food shopping - once the local marathon finishes and the roads reopen.Trying to find DH a birthday present - he buys himself anything he wants as soon as he sees it.Processing apples - baking apples / crumbling apples/ stuffing apples / stewing apples.and the laundry.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Welcome to October.
We came back from holiday yesterday to a mountain of mail.
First lot - flyers, etc for the bi-election on Thursday. I've lived here all my life and I have never seen a ballot paper with so many names, parties, etc on it. I guess it's an indication of the disillusionment that's being felt at the moment. Anyway, postal vote has now been cast.
Second lot - a myriad of very confusing hospital appointments. The respiratory specialist phoned me whilst I was on holiday. No change in the lung nodule following the CT scan. He's gave me three alternatives. 1) Leave it. 2) Have a lung biopsy, 3) Have an operation to remove it. His preferred option is No 2. Well, he's the expert so we'll go with that. Just didn't realise that it involved breathing tests, etc beforehand. But, hey ho - just get on with it.
Third lot - Council need to do numerous safety checks. Needless to say some of them clash with the hospital appointments. So tomorrow will be the battle to get them changed.
To other things. A busy month. Two birthdays. Presents bought and wrapped. Budgets are all done. Freezer and fridge full. Not a NSD as we needed basics from Aldi. Not too expensive, though. Holiday washing all done and dried on the line,
Onwards and upwards. Better get the diary filled up with appointments so I know where I am.
Have a nice day. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10 -
Spend day today but all planned. Did spin class first thing, first time in a long time but felt better for it afterwards. Bought a couple of bits I needed for holiday - ear plugs, sun cream etc. Filled the car up with petrol and went to the car wash. Someone has decided my car resembles a whiteboard and has drawn two great big black lines down the side. Car wash didn't shift them so will tackle that job tomorrow. Fixed a dress for holiday as well today.
Couldn't horse ride as pony is still lame so went and gave him some carrots instead and went for a walk. Played some games online this afternoon, and have just had a bath. Couple of other small jobs to do this evening. It's my non-working day tomorrow so want to get as much done as I can today so that tomorrow is chill.
