Today I am grateful for seeing a fab Dr with dc, for DH opening a savings account and the paying money across being hitch-free, for my gym and all the lovely people who go there, for visits from a couple of the neighbourhood cats, for good coffee.

Did an exercise routine, plus squeezed another couple of jobs in before breakfast.
A very wet day here & not the wind has got up to nearly gale force! Work went ok, despite it being inside breaks. Was given a surprise cake at dinnertime, which went down very nicely 😋 Left work as the bell was ringing, as I'd only given myself 15 minutes to drive the 12 miles back to our village hairdresser!
Dropped DS3 off at his Barbie disco, then did the ironing. Had a bath & read a long chapter of my book, then went to pick DS & his friend up. No sewing done tonight!
Grateful for surprise cake, the hairdresser not cutting to much off the length of my hair this time, that DS had had fun at his disco. (He'd also been at a construction careers fair today & has decided he'd like to become a plasterer)Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

If anyone has any unused old stamps without barcodes PLEASE get a form from the Post Office to apply for replacements. It's so easy to apply! They can be any denomination (i had 1st, 2nd and odd amounts to post items abroad, i.e. £1.65, £1.35, 10p, 2p, 1p). Form takes about 5 minutes to complete and they provide a prepaid envelope. They sent me barcoded stamps within the week and any obsolete values are replaced with equivalent values in 1st and 2nd class. I sent £5.21 in stamps and received £5.50 in stamps.
Returned £5 box of new tights to T*sco. Can't believe you have to buy 5 pairs instead of 1! I'd panic bought them for the funeral then found an unused pair in my drawer so hence the refund.
Needed a new keyring as my keys kept dropping off. Partner found me one he didn't need so that saved about £3.
Dropped off charity cheque from my sister and I in memory of our uncle.
Lawn mown.
Vintage Christmas decorations bought from charity shop at the weekend. Tiny wire and net angels, fuzzy flock deer and Czech pipecleaner and glass figures from the 60's. Cost me £5 and i love them!
Pile of read magazines, (I'm the 3rd reader already), sorted out and passed on to my friend.
Tiny red grass seedlings from between the paving I potted up are now much bigger so gave 2 to my friend who needs plants for her garden.
Cards sent to my friend to celebrate birth of her 1st grandchild and to her son and partner on their new baby. Put some money in for the baby as he's been given so much already.
Have saved lots of jam jars/coffee jars so need to find someone that wants them. It's the right season for them!
Sorted some old unused 100W light bulbs to give away as we will never use them. Think they would melt my lampshades!
Been given a free ticket for a local attraction and also got a free day ticket for Nat Trust so must use these before expiry on 20th October. Looking forward to some nice days out.
Gratitudes: Replacement stamps, tickets for some days out, my lovely vintage decorations and making the effort to get a refund on my tights! X6 -
Good morning guys
I thought I’d pop by and say hello.
Thrifty_Taylor congrats on your DS choosing to be a plasterer, a useful career. We have to wait months round here to get any sort of building work done so he’ll always be in work. I think we are a rare family where both my boys are actually using the degree they trained to do and I know loads that had no idea what they wanted to do and still don’t. My nephew (who’s in his forties has gradually picked up extra building skills over the years and can easily walk into another job if he needs to)
I’ve had quite a productive week for me as after my operation I run out of steam quite quickly. I finally got organised with a menu plan, I’ve started thinking about Xmas ( I go down to half wages in a few weeks so I need to not do the last minute panic spend ) and I’ve got into a nice routine where I rest for a couple of hours in the afternoon which means less painkillers.
So today I’m grateful for not having to go out in this rubbish weather, for my lovely supportive family ( DS1 and DIL regularly send photos on WhatsApp and FaceTime so we can talk to out gorgeous little granddaughter) and DS2 is wonderful helping out cos me and OH or on light duties so to speak. Also for the skills I have learnt on here which means I’ve always got plenty of choice of diet.
Anyway enough for now
Have a good day guys and hugs to all who need them.

Mindfulness 6 Tips to be more mindful
1* Gratitude
Each morning, as you open your eyes, give thanks. (It's amazing you woke up, not everyone gets that privilege.
2* Eating
Before each meal, thank the food for nourishing your body and get some perspective. A child dies from hunger every ten seconds.
3* Cleaning
Practice deep breathing while you clean up. Sweeping the floor can become a meditation
4* Mindful Dressing
As you get dressed each day, thank your body for all it does for you. Go through each body part. Thank you eyes for letting me see.
5* Cooking
When you are cooking, notice the colours, smells and textures
6* Mindful Walking
Walk as if you are pushing peace back into the earth. Nature needs all the good vibes it can get

Well it was all go in F0xh0les Towers this morning!DS4 tried to leave the house in his PE kit on the wrong day..... he would have got sent home - I caught him in time.Mr F-H was due to give a paper at a conference, but did not realise all timings were on Central European Time, so the email asking if he was okay at 8.10 resulted in a lot of flapping and squawking and me driving him up the road in the piddling rain to his booked library room - he only missed the first half hour. Luckily he is not due to do his bit til after lunch. He is such an academic.Came home and found 4 sad pears so wondered what on earth I was going to do with them, then remembered the 2 bottles of mulled wine in the pantry from last C-word - I now have poached pears for pudding today, and only one and a half bottles of mulled wine to dispose of (***full disclosure*** - I microwave it in a mug, no mess, no fuss, ready in seconds, no waste ......... - look, I have never once claimed to be classy). Then the roofer chap popped in to requote - it has taken them so long to get round to doing the job, that there might be a crossover between the roofer and the builder, so a third of the job is no longer necessary. Anyway, the scaffold will now not go up this week (boo!), and the job **might** not start next week (more boo!) - he did apologise for delaying our job a couple of times, but I am looking forward to a reduced quote at least.Still on track to be watertight by mid November (sigh!)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Good morning ☔
Thank you grandmanerd. Lovely thoughts for the day. Those starvation statistics are so sad... especially when there is so much to go around in reality. It also makes me appreciate how lucky I am and to try and not waste anything. Salad drawer here I come!!!
Yesterday was a wipe out. GP suggested I take a higher dose tablet every 3rd day to see if I was less zombie like. I took a full one Monday - but yesterday I was good for nothing. Tired and lethargic - literally the walking dead (or the sit on the sofa all day dead!). Will just have to stick at lower dose and hope that's enough to take the edge off my anxiety and stuff. Really need to get back on track with healthy eating, mindfulness and exercise which have yet again slipped. Little steps...
Took a look at my finances and re-jigged a few things. All in all looking ok. Need to top-up with fuel, pick up some medication, and a few basic food items so today will be a spend day. Am throwing any loose change in my account at my credit cards - today chipped off 46p! Every bit helps.
I was told I looked 10 years younger this week!!! (no - they didn't have cataracts or a guide dog - though it was soft mood lighting haha). I have been diligently cleansing/toning/moisturising and had a serum mask the other day... maybe it's paying off haha.
Today I am grateful for:
1) Food on my table, in my cupboards and fridge/freezer.
2) Clothes to wear, an umbrella, and my car to get me around today
3) Shelter, warmth and a safe place to sleep
Today remains NSD number 4
Have a lovely day everyone x⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐
