I was trying to avoid that as it is a highstreet bank and I didn't want another full credit check at the same time as the one for switching. That was why I was thinking of using Metro or Starling.Aidanmc said:Maybe you could set up a second current account with your main bank, thats probably easiest.0 -
I've switched 7 different chase accounts now, no issues. As long as you dont have any pots attached to the new account you open it will just workHannah2 said:
Thanks, I have my main bank account and then I use Chase as my budget account with separate accounts on there for weekly spend, petrol, holiday savings etc. I have seen that you can use an additional Chase account for the switch, but there seem to be mixed reviews about whether that works. I do use savings and current account pots on there so I don't want to risk closing the whole thing, or it not going through for some reason, so will try setting up an account elsewhere tonight and see how I get on! Nothing to loose I guess!Aidanmc said:Hannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! Anyway, from what I am understanding I can set up a donor current account with something like Metro or Starling (to avoid hard credit check), set up a couple of direct debits and request the switch. However, I read something about the debit bank card, would I have to wait for the debit card to physically arrive before I could start the switch? Or have I misread something? Knowing my luck Nationwide will pull the offer whilst I am trying to set up the donor account and direct debits! Thanks. When doing a switch application it asks if you have a debit card for the account being switched, with a option of yes or no. If you select yes it asks for some of the card numbers and exp date. However, if you select No as not having a card that should work.By the time your DD's are set up, the card will most likely have arrived. If nationwide pull the offer, there will be others soon and you will be ready to go!2 -
Did you put the same debit card number for all the accounts that you switched? Or did you just tick to say you don't have a debit card for that account? Can you explain what you mean as pots attached to the account? Do you mean the round up/cashback pots? Thanksantuk said:I've switched 7 different chase accounts now, no issues. I would make sure you have no round ups turned on or savings accounts linked to the account your switching.1 -
I am currently not in UK and don't have access to my donor account debit card / 16 digit number. How myopic of me......Asked Nationwide whether that information is completely necessary, and the answer was that without that number the donor bank may reject the switch request - thus invalidating the exercise.1

Hi, does anyone know how long it takes for nationwide to pay the switch bonus? They say within 10 days but really could use that money sooner 🙏0

After tab paid out today, got a successful application in with Nationwide now. Switch completes on 29th so I wonder if they pay earlier or on that day and I get the Barclays one in before that Des on the 30th0

They seem to pay out in batches rather than a set time after you've completed, so you could get lucky and it's only a day after, or you could be waiting a number of days.

If you want to switch into an existing Nationwide current account, are you able to do that by logging in online or does it necessitate a phone call? And can a switch be cancelled or rearranged online? Terms suggest can switch by going online but customer services person I spoke to seemed to think not and needed to be done via telephone.0

Mine completed on 13th Nov, two DD’s moved across fine as well, & I’m still waiting for it to land. Haven’t received confirmation I’ve qualified (nothing suggesting I wouldn’t) but from what others have said the confirmation text/email & then the money arrive very close togetherIceheart16 said:Hi, does anyone know how long it takes for nationwide to pay the switch bonus?
