Just started my switch today, cross fingers everything goes smoothly as I couldn't match my ID online but is going to send everything in the post
Silly question peeps..... I was transfering my Chase account to Nationwide.  Got a message from Chase today saying they cant switch the account to Nationwide as I still have a saving or rewards account still open with them.  I foolish missed a sub account with them that I didn't close that was connected to my current account :/  which I have done now.

Question is, have i ballsed up the chance of getting the £200? Nationwide have sent me letters which I have received today for getting online with the account etc.  But have i missed out the opportunity to get the £200? or can I apply to switch the Chase account again now I have closed the sub-account connected to it, to the Flex one that Is now open at Nationwide?

Kicking myself here for not noticing the other sub-account connected to the Chase Account  :s
Can't see any reason why you can't request the switch again if the first one has failed. The offer is still running after all.
    That's what I thought thank you :)
Savings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.58
  • Myself and wife have initiated a switch each to our newly opened NationWide Single accounts

Can we also open a Joint account with NationWide and switch one of our Joint account and get another £200?

Yes. This Nationwide offer is one of the rare ones where you're specifically allowed to double dip and get an incentive for switching a joint account as well as a sole account.

Thanks!! Now, just need to have two Active DDs set-up on our donor joint account/ We have exhausted Plum, Moneybox, Credit Card Min Payment DDs with single donor accounts, in search for other DD options. I have see the cheap DD threads on here, will try and pick some other ones from the list

Once you've been paid the Nationwide sole incentives, you don't need to keep the DDs. You should be able to shuffle around your existing ones onto your joint account. I seem to recall some issues someone reported setting up Plum/Moneybox on a joint account, which should be detailed in the savings accounts accepting DDs thread you refer to.
  • My other half tried to open this account tonight, went through the long application form, did the ID check, received the email documentation, gave the go-ahead to perform a hard credit check and it came back with "technical error - try again" - pressing try again returned to the very beginning of the process  :open_mouth:

I said try again tomorrow - annoying as its taken me ages to convince her to switch bank accounts!

Have they checked the email inbox for the address they gave during the application? I have seen the "technical error - try again" glitches while trying to register for their online banking, but then the email arrived that the registration was successful.
  • My switch completed on Monday, everything moved over fine. When did people get confirmation they’d qualified for the £200? And then get the money?

I was the following day. I happen to login and the money was in the account. It was the day after again before the text message came through.

Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! Anyway, from what I am understanding I can set up a donor current account with something like Metro or Starling (to avoid hard credit check), set up a couple of direct debits and request the switch.  However, I read something about the debit bank card, would I have to wait for the debit card to physically arrive before I could start the switch?  Or have I misread something?  Knowing my luck Nationwide will pull the offer whilst I am trying to set up the donor account and direct debits! Thanks.
