Nationwide Switch Offer £200 September 2023

The limiting factor is that you usually need the full 16 digit debit card number to initiate the switch. Sometimes you can get this through your online banking, but if not then you'll need to wait until the physical card arrives to get the number.Hannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! Anyway, from what I am understanding I can set up a donor current account with something like Metro or Starling (to avoid hard credit check), set up a couple of direct debits and request the switch. However, I read something about the debit bank card, would I have to wait for the debit card to physically arrive before I could start the switch? Or have I misread something? Knowing my luck Nationwide will pull the offer whilst I am trying to set up the donor account and direct debits! Thanks.1 -
Does anyone make a switch recenty?
How long does it takes for the who process?
I was told my switch started on 06/11/2023. But my old current account still alive as of today??
I think it should only takes 7 working days...0 -

Thanks. When doing a switch application it asks if you have a debit card for the account being switched, with a option of yes or no. If you select yes it asks for some of the card numbers and exp date. However, if you select No as not having a card that should work.By the time your DD's are set up, the card will most likely have arrived. If nationwide pull the offer, there will be others soon and you will be ready to go!1

Thanks, I have my main bank account and then I use Chase as my budget account with separate accounts on there for weekly spend, petrol, holiday savings etc. I have seen that you can use an additional Chase account for the switch, but there seem to be mixed reviews about whether that works. I do use savings and current account pots on there so I don't want to risk closing the whole thing, or it not going through for some reason, so will try setting up an account elsewhere tonight and see how I get on! Nothing to loose I guess!Aidanmc said:Hannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! However, if you say No and there is a card associated with the account, the bank you are switching from are perfectly within their rights to refuse the switch request. Whether they would if the card was in transit is anyone's guess.Aidanmc said:Hannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! If it started on the 6th Nov, then today is the 7th working day and the switch should complete today - "today" means at any point up until midnight. Worst case your old bank might need an extra day to process the account closure, but it will all be sorted.Cisco001 said:Does anyone make a switch recenty?

I've read on here before a few times where people have selected "no" but actually had an active card, had issues with their switches. I personally would just wait the extra few days for the card to arrive to provide the card number for the switch.Aidanmc said:Hannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! you could apply for the nationwide account and then once you have the donor account set up request the switch then on the internet banking site (as terms state you need to switch within 60 days, you don't have to apply to switch and put the switching account details at the point of applying for the nationwide accountHannah2 said:Hi, new to bank switching - bit late to the party! Maybe you could set up a second current account with your main bank, thats probably easiest.
