I haven't used them with joint accounts so I don't know for sure how it would work, but I don't see any reason why you both couldn't just link the same joint account in each of your respective apps? (ie. set up 4 DDs by each linking your sole Moneybox/Plum accounts to the same joint account). Otherwise you'd need to juggle around some other DDs, or switch a sole account into the joint one.
That's a good idea.   We'll try and move all 4 to our joint account. Thanks again.
An update on this.  Plum have said they can't linked a joint bank account.  Moneybox have said they can.  So I've re-linked our Virgin Money joint account to Moneybox.  We'll have to wait a few working days to know if it's worked.  Now I'm thinking assuming the moneybox one works, which other DD shall I try and link?
Do you both have a Moneybox app? If so, what's stopping you both from linking to the joint account, for a total of 2 DDs?

Your right - I actually didn't think like that.  I'll give it a try and let you know how I get on.

    Cheers
  • Could you please give me some guidance on setting up the Plum Direct debit. Is it - Brain - Weekly deposit and this will set up the direct debit?
  • I know its a somewhat open question but how long do they usually run this offer for?

So I've got an update.  Looks like both Plum and Moneybox have a policy where they won't let you link a joint account to the sole Plum/Moneybox account.

So now I'll have to find a different bank/company - any recommendations where the DD can be setup very quickly (preferably weekly).

PayPal? It'd have to be done manually but you can add funds as often as you like via DD.

Good to know for joint accounts!

PayPal above is a good one, otherwise just drop a few quid to a charity of your choice :)

Yeah, weekly or pay day option should do the trick.
  • Thanks very much @WillPS and @PRAISETHESUN

I've now gone ahead and linked our 2 separate paypal accounts with our joint Virgin Money account.  Paypal sent a 4-digitt code which we entered to confirm the account.  However, when we check the Virgin Money account, it's not showing any DDs - How long does Paypal take before it shows on the bank account?

Also I'm a bit confused with Paypal - Does an actual payment need to be taken or is it just a matter of setting up the DD without any payment?

If a payment needs to be take, do I need to purchase something?

    Thanks again

Takes about 5 working days for a direct debit mandate to fully establish. Check it on Friday then Monday.
