I applied just now but on the last page while I was reading the overdraft agreement, the webpage suddenly changed to "There's a problem. Unfortunately there has been a technical problem. The transaction has not been completed. Error code: 010 (...)"

Anyone know what 010 is and what I'm supposed to do next? Don't really want to apply again as I can see they already did the hard search on my credit file.
I had this using Firefox for the application. In my case using a different browser worked.

They will have done a hard search already but the good news is they seem to do 1 hard search per day regardless of how many accounts you apply for, so get an application in (or however many you want/need) and you'll still only have that 1 search recorded (probably!).

Thanks WillPS - I was indeed using Firefox. Just tried again with Edge and application was successful. So far, no alert of a hard search appearing either. Thank you for your timely advice.

You're most welcome. Unfortunately most things about TSB's online banking are to some extent broken, it's terrible that a bug as serious as this has continued as long as it already has done!

I attempted to switch to TSB via the app this evening but after sending personal details such as a copy of my passport then having to record a 'video selfie' I was then asked to repeat the process. At this point I lost my patience and aborted. Worst switch process of them all I have switched to all but TSB.
This is one switch offer I will not be pursuing.
    • New customers can earn £5 cashback a month when you make 20 or more debit card payments each calendar month (first six months only for Spend & Save current account).
    • If you’ve switched to us, and met the criteria above, we’ll double it to £10 a month for six months!
I copied this off the TSB website - just checking a hack - can I make ALL my 20+ debit card payemnts within 20 minutes of each other. I'm thinking going for my weekly shop - self service  - and pay for 1 item at a time rather than all together.

You can certainly do that if you want. You could also make 20 debit card payments into a savings account by debit card. There's a list of  accounts that you can make debit card deposits into on this thread:

Or set Amazon to 'auto top up' £1/day. Super lazy and potentially costs if you can get Amazon credit cheaper, but not by much.

This is basically the only way I've ever found to automate the process. Of course, it means you're committing yourself to spend £365/year at Amazon...

As long as the transactions all clear by the end of the month then they can be as rapid as you like. Just keep in mind the TSB fraud systems may kick in the first time you try it - you might get asked to do Chip and PIN alot, or it might just block your card entirely. I used to pay off my credit card in multiple transactions each month to qualify. Eventually all this becomes "normal" behaviour for your account and stops getting flagged.

Thanks for this - sorry for being a bit dim - but this could be a game changer for me. I never knew I could pay into a savings account with my debit card. I have a Chase account- 1% cashback. Will I get the 1% from Chase if a rotate my money around 1 or 2 of these accounts?
