I notice that the bit I've put in bold from the last TSB switch offer is not there in the new September offer:
**a full switch means you need to transfer all active credits and debits from your old account and close it. This must include a minimum of two active Direct Debits
In the new T&C's:
By 31 October 2023 you must do all of the following:
[...]
• Have a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits on your new Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account.
Does this mean I can switch to TSB before adding 2 DDs to the TSB account by 31 October?

  • I'd say it certainly means that.
  • I note that the details on MSE about the £5/10 per month cashback for doing 20 debit transactions says "plus £10 cashback each month you spend on the debit card 20+ times for the first six months (£5/month cashback after)."

Important to note that the date of the transaction isn't when it actually happened, it's when TSB count it (which could be 5 days later according to them). So any transactions near the end of the month are unlikely to count.

I'm also not sure about the £5 offer continuing after the 6 months, seems to be ambiguous from TSB and of course they could pull it at any point anyway.

Not ambiguous, TSB have 2 current account products in the switch offer, one of which continues to pay £5/mth after 6 months (Spend & Save Plus), costs £3/mth. The other one doesn't.

As for TSB "pulling the product", well that's true of any product offered by any institution.

Ok well the MSE details are wrong then. It lists the non-plus account as continuing:

"Switch to the TSB Spend & Save* and you'll get £150 in switch cash, plus £10 cashback each month you spend on the debit card 20+ times for the first six months (£5/month cashback after)."

I got a switch offer mid October 2022 which would rule me out. Are TSB usually good with checks? If anyone else tries having received the same offer from last year, and is successful, please let us know!

If you click on the link in that quote it directs you to the TSB page that describes the offer in unambiguous terms.

Any description of anything third-party on the MSE site is subject to editorial brevity (or just plain mistakes). Always check out the actual product/offer on the actual sites mentioned.

Not ever so. In my experience a new account results in a totally new customer profile being created, in theory this is meant to merge automatically overnight but in my experience this doesn't happen.

    YMMV.

I get that, but better to fix a mistake than to leave it IMO.
  • Been waiting for this as I've had one 'spare' bank account for this very opportunity.
Just processed it, bit faffy tbh, they always are.
Despite me going through the switch offer routine, the account was opened without the old account ever being mentioned so then had to fill a second form in detailing the switch.
I never seem to find it quite as straightforward as its supposed to be.

    Fingers crossed!

I applied just now but on the last page while I was reading the overdraft agreement, the webpage suddenly changed to "There's a problem. Unfortunately there has been a technical problem. The transaction has not been completed. Error code: 010 (...)"

Anyone know what 010 is and what I'm supposed to do next? Don't really want to apply again as I can see they already did the hard search on my credit file.
