Do TSB do hard or soft searches for opening a secondary account with them?
    They do a hard search.
  • When criteria says to have used the card, I assume this doesn't have to be an instore one and I can just pay a bill or something online with it?
  • Keen to take advantage of this offer but a bit confused by this line:

A full switch means you need to transfer all active credits and debits from your old account (not held with TSB) and close it.

Do we think this means you can use an old account with no active credits or debits?

You can definitely pay online bills, I looked at T&C earlier.

I find most switch offers have ambiguous terms here and there. To me that means the old account has to have active DD's.
    Could be wrong.

Thanks, I think you're right and best not to risk it. I'll switch two direct debits over to the account I'm switching in.

I clicked the link on the MSE bank accounts page, downloaded the app as recommended by TSB. Filled it in, took a photo of my driving licence, did the video confirmation, it took ages to get approved, then it timed out. I logged back in and it wanted me to click the box against my phone number but it was greyed out. It mentioned something about having to wait 48 hours for security reasons. Ugh! Anyone else get this?

Also where / when / how do I do the switch from another bank account?

Yeah I got the greyed out phone number thing. Was fine after 48 hours as they say. Really annoying as it literally tells you that you can log in right away, yet because the phone number is new (obviously as it's a new customer) then it could never be the case that you could log in. Still, that was the least bad thing about having the account so far!

I think you have to fill in an online form to switch the account. Again, makes no sense but I think someone needs to come in and streamline what they do as it's a mess from what I can see.

I got through relatively ok which was a relief as my passport pic doesn't really look like me!

I had to fill out an Adobe form which was slightly odd but its going through now so that must be the norm.

So im already with TSB, and had just filled in all the information and just clicked dont want an overdraft and then all of a sudden this error appeared. Anyone else had this happen to them? I had not even got to doing the switch info yet

I got all the way to making a temp login and then it gave me this error again, anyone else having issues on Firefox? or is it just mine. Will start a chat with them tomorrow.

I was making my user id and password and it just seem to refresh or something and display this, making me think its not worth the hassle and perhaps go over to Nationwide switch instead :s
