Keep strong Longwalker  you can do it, i;ll let you into a secret, my consultant works in Sainsburys bakery 😂😂 how she deals with it is works the syns out for everything and thinks cake or fizz 🤣🤣
When you think a pink iced doughnut is 10.5 and a whole bottle of prosecco is 24 then there's no contest! 🤣

  • Loved reading all of your posts ladies. Can't comment individually as I am on my phone at 3%!

WI this evening and could have cut yer consultant woman's attitude with a knife. After my big loss last week she got all interested then if you'd seen the face on her when I only lost half a pound!

TBH I will take the loss, but was hoping for a wee bit better. PITA that I had only a bit of a blip on Friday but 6 days of eating well.

Will try to make time for at least a 10k run on Friday as I am on call all weekend so won't get out to parkrun. Need to add in some strength training too. Home life has been incredibly stressful for the past 6 weeks or so which doesn't help as I haven't had the freedom to be out as much as I usually would be.

Will try to focus on 8lbs over 2 weeks as that sounds better!

Im really sure your consultant wasnt like that @NornIronRose - but thats your perception and thats what matters, perhaps you need to find a new group? I live in a tiny area - THREE Consultants working it and I use the three of them - doesn't always suit to be there on a Saturday morning for instance, but Susan, the one I signed with is good for me - shes a drinker so knows my struggles.  Shes one who uses syns for alcohol as well so we have that "bond". Nowt else in common whatsoever other then the desire to be within a healthy weight range :)  Shes passionate about that and it shows in the support she genuinely gives. She knows when you have had a tough week, not been pleased, upset even about the scales, she will text during the week to check in with you, often thats been whats stopped me going sod it and giving up.

And believe me, Ive had many of those moments, I hate how others join and lose over 5lb in their first week or get their stone within the month, and I struggle along with my 1lb or less loss.  I mean Im genuinely happy for them but I think Ive worked so ruddy hard for that 1lb and they seem to waltz it ( obviously they dont ) Hell I even moan on here about my pathetic loses :) But my tiny loses have all added up to me wearing my size 10 jeans again - with breathing and eating room

For me I need that support from a consultant I can Identify with and it sounds like you do as well. Others do well by not needing the meetings and instead just do online , me mate is one of those. Me I enjoy the craic in group, and the craic is mighty and Im grateful that the consultant I have is so good that she lets the group go the way we want, she lets the craic run, she allows us to choose where the meeting goes, but shes also on the ball, nursing the ones who need the extra help

You lost half a pound, thats fantastic. You had a day where syns and choosing wisely went out the window big time, but you got back on the programme and didnt have a gain and thats BRILLIANT. Id say theres not one of us here who doesn't have a least one day a week where a sod it happens and the trigger food  gets eaten, but we know thats ok, its a blip, we know how to minimise the damage and we draw a line and move on. My consultant is the first to say its ok, you have to live, you arent a saint, you have to do what makes you happy , she never chastises  anyone sitting there saying that they were shovelling KFC or Big Macs down their neck, more she asks how you feel about that weeks result, how you you think you are going to move forward and what support you need and you know that there will always be someone in group who's struggled the same, been in the same place, who. will share their experience and offer up what helped them

You already have that mindset, you haven't thrown the towel in, you are still sticking with it and that in itself shows how much you want this. Look around and try another consultant if at all possible, if there isnt one, then use your fellow group members for the support - and us

Well done for the LOSS. A loss is a loss no matter how small
  • Thanks Longwalker. Encouraging words and it's amazing that you are in a size 10 with wiggle room! Not kidding, I don't think I've been a size 10 since I was a kid.
Sounds as if your group is good for you and I haven't discovered the 'craic' merchants in mine yet lol.

I only kept on track because of the support on this forum. When I am under stress I eat. Especially in the evening. I'm going through a house move, divorce and teen struggles all at the same time and it has been very difficult.
But compared to what some are enduring, I have it easy.

I will see if there is another group around with a different consultant because the way I described her last night really isn't far off the mark. But if the way she is works for some, then fair play.

Had mash with one sausage, fried egg, mushrooms and beans yesterday evening.

Today will be some grapes that I left in work, lunch is (free) homemade soup, thin rye cracker things with vegemite and cottage cheese.
Defrosted some chicken breast so need to figure out what to do with that later. Really need to use up my freezer contents before I move so it will likely be some kind of weird concoction. Spotted a bag of mixed veg lurking in there.

Morning everyone - biblical rain here  :open_mouth:

Some great advice there @Longwalker - and totally agree.

@NornIronRose you have such a lot going on and are doing really well not to stress eat. Very well done on your loss xx You could use the chicken and mixed veg to make a biryani? The recipe I use is from the Comfort Zone recipe book. Slice some onions and pop in the oven with some fry light for 15 minutes to crisp up. Sprinkle the chicken with 2 tbsp curry powder and set aside, then add to the oven tray with mixed veg, garlic, rice and some chicken stock - add extra curry powder at this point 3 tbsp. Bake for 30-35 minutes at 200 fan/gas 7. The recipe uses thighs but if breast is what you have then use it - maybe cut the breasts in half or thirds?? Makes loads, very filling and is using up what you have in. HTH xx

Glad your friend is coming home @bubbs. Please can you repost the apple pie recipe or point me in the right direction? Thanks also for the Sainsbury pork tip - got a nice leg joint for half price yesterday - have frozen it for later.

We had lots of youngsters knock for Halloween last night. Luckily I'd stocked up on goodies. Only a few left and none that take my fancy!

    Food today:
    B - scrambled egg, spinach, smoked salmon, tomatoes, mushrooms - P, S
L - JP, cheese, baked beans, apple, 2 satsumas - HEA, free, S
D - tuna pasta bake - my own recipe using 100g light soft cheese from Aldi - 2 syns
    HEA: milk
    HEB - hi fi bar
Syns - 2 but may add a few more!

  • The craic will come, I think it took me three attendances before I opened my mouth to anyone , didnt help as I had to change meetings ( same consultant just different days ) and then 6 weeks later swopped again lol

Now Im part of the family and one of the oldies, Ive been attending since 22nd April. Like I say every 1lb has been hard fought  and these last 3lb are going to take till Christmas Im sure but I want this so much that Im prepared for the long haul

Divorce and house moves are the two must stressful times in a persons life, I know when we moved here I lost near on a stone in the four months of putting in an offer and completing, the super stress of moving to a new country trying to line up the completion on three houses the same time, getting furniture shipped from two houses over to here , dealing with 3 different solicitors , I was so stressed and busy I never had time to eat lol

But I do also go through the comfort eat pattern, these past few years have been very hard on a personal front and Ive eaten my way through them, crisp sandwiches, bread and sausage rolls being my go to. In work someone would send out for sausage rolls at least 3 or 4 times a week, we took to ordering filled sodas on the coldest long days of winter, drivers would bring us in cakes , sweets were inhaled. A 24pack of crisps would go in 2 days ( four of us)  four packs of chocolate bars - gone before 8am and on top of all that Id still fit in breakfast/lunch and tea and because I was so knackered tea would be whatever was quick and easy. I was buying mens medium joggers and wore mens large polo shirts for work ( vegetable processing factory, very cold and wet and extremely hard heavy work ) and was just so exhausted on my days off I just lay on the sofa eating. Then I had my fall and spent nearly 4 months sat on the sofa stuffing my face without the efforts of work and keeping warm to burn any of it off. I was a mess and I saw myself in bra and knickers and thought who the hell is that? With our sons wedding looming I had to do something, that was a Thursday, Saturday I walked into SW. I know I need the support and accountability of group , Id be cheating if I went it alone, start lying to myself, picking up the crisps and chocolate bars and denying they ever happened and sabotage myself but I want this weight loss badly so I follow the plan and take the 1/2lbs and the STS's

My life is completely different from that day in April. I have a wardrobe of clothes that I look good in, all the mens stuff - given to hubby for his work, all the size 18s and 16's packed off to charity, Now Im comfortable in a 14 dress and size 10 jeans and some size 8 leggings.( I have stored some clothes, JIC, but I have given myself a year, if I haven't fallen back to bad habits and not had to take them out - they are going )  I put clothes on to go out the door, I wear skirts again. I got a new job, customer facing, not stuck behind scenes where Ive hidden the past 5/6 years. I exercise, I do park run, I want to go out and about, I dont make excuses, and best of all I was in the photos at the wedding

Im 60 next year. My last health check had me obese, high cholesterol , far too much fat in my blood cells, high bp and couldn't get through a day without my antidepressants. I haven't taken the antidepressants since May, nor my BP tablets and its staying normal. Im hoping to get in for my blood tests in the next week or so , last time they were wanting to prescribe statins , I hope I have reversed that

You want this, you can do it. You have us all here, we are here fighting the same fight, we all have really tough stressful times , we have blips, we have times we are really struggling and we have here to sound off, to share and help and support. Use us

Morning all, biblical proportions of wind and rain here too!  Will be going out later to see DD1 as it's her birthday tomorrow and no way am I driving tomorrow as the weather is forecast to be even worse.  I'll also be using the old low bridge and not the new high bridge - it may well be closed anyway depending on the wind direction as they close it when there are cross winds.

@Longwalker - that all makes a lot of sense.  I agree with others @NornIronRose that it would be worth looking for another group in your area if at all possible.  The only local group to me which has a daytime group I didn't like the consultant so I now travel nearly 15 miles to the next town to go to group.  I'm having a couple of weeks off for now but will probably go back towards the end of the month.

@Coxy11 - funnily enough when I saw the chicken the mixed veg my thought was also a biryani.  I think my version if even easier!  I do it on the hob (which is of course much cheaper than the oven!).  I just cook the rice in the normal way.  I cook the mixed veg in a pan with water and curry powder and then fry off marinaded chicken (assuming time to marinade - I just chop the chicken and marinade in fat free natural yoghurt with curry powder mixed in).  Once cooked I mix the chicken and veg making sure there's some of the curry water in it.  To serve I use a small dessert bowl, line it with the cooked rice, fill the centre with the chicken and veg, and cover with more rice.  It then gets upended onto a warmed plate ready to eat.  Looks quite professional (it's how it was served when we were in Goa!).

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom omelette - P; S
    L - stuffed peppers; S; F; HEA2
    D - chilli and rice - P; S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
HEB - none planned but may have something later
Syns - none planned but again may have something later

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all - well I had a great night out last night, but SW went to the wind!  I started with a glass of wine (rather than the gin and slim I had planned) and it went downhill from there - I have 4 medium glasses in all yikes.  I had the curry and boiled rice, so not too bad, but then they handed round the trick or treat bowl and I had a flake bar and then it was someone's leaving do the day before and they had cake leftover, so then big (and I mean big) pieces of cake were handed round - I grabbed one and couldn't wait to stuff it in my mouth - feel so ashamed as it all went out the window.

    Back on track today

    B overnight oats
L melba toast (3 syns) with tuna mayo and sweetcorn (1 syn for mayo) plus speed salad
D jacket spud with beans and cheese and lots of speed salad
    Snacks ff yog and berries.

@MrsPorridge - let go of the shame/guilt!  There's no need, just draw the line and get straight back on plan.  Cut the syns back a bit until your next WI if you want but not strictly necessary but expect a gain or at best STS when you weigh next time.

Read this article from the SW website:  https://member.slimmingworld.co.uk/features/guilt.

Well done on getting back on track.

Change of plan for lunch!  Forgot there's LO fish pie in the fridge so now we'll be having that.  Not counting syns as accounted for yesterday.
