@joedenise I didn't see the ad for SW - surprised though as I've never seen them advertise on TV before. Meant to say that when I went for WI on Friday morning I thought it would be empty, but it wasn't couldn't believe how many people turned up. Dreading to think how busy it will be next Friday. We also got our new books and some new stickers. I think I will carry on using the old book for my WI's and leave the new one at home. Tbh I don't often look in the book I use the app to see the syns etc.
@Longwalker good advice re the fry.
Today's plan:
B scrambled egg and spinach
Late lunch/early tea - roast pork dinner with gravy (1 syn), roast spuds using frylight, red cabbage ready meal (3 syns), greens and cauliflower
Nibbles, crisps and I will have a couple of glasses of wineDebt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Bloody hell, I slept in and missed my 8am weight in and ended up there for the. 9:30 one - horrible group, all dips and drabs and in the end I Left and hit Tesco. Seriously it was woeful , no energy about it at allStill WI and lost another 1/2 but I had lost 3.5 cos I had gained 3 from Sunday to Wednesday so happy with thatGot me new books, will start them from Monday , when I shall post on the new thread as well - new year, new startThe new cook book offer is for the next few weeks, 6/12 week countdown so Im going to wait a week or two yet. Im getting rather anxious about the Dry January , for me its more then just quitting for a month. Im facing abstinence - again. Did 12 years before and I will admit I hated every bloody minute. I just wish I could drink normally but I cantAt the moment I dont use syns as food, I keep to free/speed/hex a +b . Of course I have the odd one, ketchup , mayo etc, which seeing as I drink more syns then is enough I never have bothered counting, and Ive lost weight. So its going to be a new learning curve, eating synsToday I went mad with the bread, two bacon rolls before I went to work, a goujon whilst in work and then a big bowl of wholewheat spaghetti with Salmon in a chilli sauce with hm really seriously garlic butter roll and am sitting here stuffed to the gillsChristmas dinner again tomorrow , visiting family , it will do me for the day and Im back to work NYD so its all hit and miss then but hey ho, Ill have food syns1

Morning all, I'm with you @Longwalker with posting on this thread today and then starting on the new thread from tomorrow as it will be New Year.
It sounds like you went a bit overboard with the synful food at work! The big bowl of wholewheat spaghetti with salmon in a chilli sauce would have been fine as I doubt there were many syns in that, probably just a bit of oil in the cooking of it.
Enjoy the Christmas dinner again today when visiting family. It'll be good just to see family. Good luck with your dry January. Have you considered giving the alcohol free spirits a go (or would that be cheating?)? The Gordons gin is very similar to the real thing; the Captain Morgan's spiced rum is a bit sweeter than the real thing. They're the 2 I drink when I fancy a drink but don't have the syns to use.
Today's plan:
B - fry up with LF sausages - P; S; F; 2
L - burger, onions, gherkins in WM soft pitta - HEB; S; 0.5
D - roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green veg - P; S; F
HEA - milk
HEB - WM soft pitta
Syns - LF sausages 2; LF burger 0.5
Have a good day everyone.0 -
No oil used at all in the Salmon @maman I gently heat 4 or 5 dairy lea lights with a couple of tablespoons of chilli sauce then mash then together then use the pasta water to slacken it . I use poached salmonI cant use the zero alcohol . Im. using dry January as a vehicle to abstinence and the only way I can get to there is to break the habit of having a drinkLockdown became a huge problem for me. Up till lockdown I was drinking at sensible levels as would only drink in the pub. Pubs shut, drink was bought in. If Ive drink in Ill reach for it and where as drinking in the pub had a cut off time - ie - home to cook dinner, drinking at home the cut off is bed time and where as the pub was a couple of times a week, a drink at home is 7 days a weekThe last dry January I did, 2019, I stayed off it until Grand National day whenever that is. and then I slowly built up again., couple of wines here and there, started to pile the weight on so went back to Scotch and here I am, weight off, pretty much have a good eating plan but now need to get the drink gone . I would love to have a healthy relationship with booze but I dont think I ever will. My eldest sister has remained abstinent for near on 40 years and neither of her children drink, my wee sister is a lush as well and her daughter is going the same. Come from a long line of alkies unfortunately - wether its nature or nurture, no one really knowsOh Im not at the stage where I wake up wanting a drink or pouring one for breakfast, just when I do start, I dont know when to stop . I think Im ready to stop0

It's a difficult one @Longwalker. Like you, I use very few syns on food but I have managed to cut drinking back to mostly weekends and holidays.
I did this before SW and, for me, it was a case of breaking bad habits I'd got into. It wasn't easy but doable. I never wanted to give up drinking just cut back so having a fixed amount set by syns suits me fine.
Good luck with Dry January. I can understand why you don't want to swap booze for alcohol free but it is hard when most soft drinks are horribly sweet. Personally I stick to water and tea if I'm not having an alcoholic drink. Do you have a plan? 🤔0 -
Our love and support is with you Longwalker. I understand that it will be very daunting. I haven't had an alcoholic drink for 26 years. I am not an alcoholic but used to drink a lot! Last time I just got stupidly drunk on my 30th birthday and was incredibly reckless. Did something I regret to this day. So I gave up.
I admire your courage and determination to go dry.
My battle has always been with food. I'm all or nothing. Always have been. Not kidding, I want to get to my target weight so that I can just eat without guilt. I'm eating without guilt now, but am still really not liking it. Proper obsession with everything that goes into my mouth. I would dearly love not to be like this.0 -
Hopefully, by the time you get to target you'll be so ingrained in the SW healthy eating that you'll not want to go back to your previous meal/snack choices@NornironRose.
I enjoy crisps and lots of non HEA cheese when it's a holiday or a special occasion but I know that's not healthy for a normal every day menu.
SW isn't supposed to be a diet. It's a lifetime change to healthy eating with treats limited to the 105 weekly syns. I just love not being fat any more, it pleases me every day. 😁1 -
Evening all,
I have no idea where we are supposed to be posting? Thought the new thread was for that?
Good luck Longwalker you can do it 🥰
Rose , i dont drink either , i did when i was younger but it just does not appeal to me anymore. Like you i love food, but as Maman says it is not a diet and if you go back to eating as you did before you will end up back where you were before. Also after eating SW way you will have a bad tummy i did at Christmas because i couldn't stuff enough crap down my throat 🤣🤣but like you i am all or nothing so when i am on plan i'd rather not have just 1 as 1 is not enough.
Food today, ham and cheese spread egg wraps, tomato
Roast chicken, loads veg, gravy 4 syns , Bought yorkie!! 5 syns, not as nice as mine 🤣🤣
Pudding i am having baked apple with mincemeat hexb, cinnamon ice cream 😋
