  • Longwalker I like the idea of the cheese triangles in the mash or jacket spud. Will try that later.

Is it bad that I cooked a whole bag of baby spuds in the airfryer and ate most of them last night? Have literally a handful left to slice up and use in an omelette for brunch. I figured that it was 1kg, so even if I ate the lot that I couldn't put on more than a kg!!! I was hungry, they are tasty.

Have left out some soup (free) to defrost. Will make sure to eat properly later before I go out.

Wet day here. Because I'm out for a long walk later I didn't go to parkrun today so stayed in bed with the cat as a wee treat.

@bubbs so very sorry to hear about your friend.

Well done to those who have lost.

The funeral went well (if you know what I mean).  Lots of driving and despite the food I took I still ended up having a KFC, but it could have been a lot worse!

Back on track yesterday and again today.

    Today's plan
    B overnight oats (HEB)
    L tuna salad
D BGTY sausage with mash with spring onions, peas, carrots and beans (1 syn)

We are off again tomorrow for one night away and are having a Christmas party style dinner tomorrow night.  I'm going to try and food optimise but still enjoy myself - try and find the balance.  I will be having overnight oats and tuna salad for lunch tomorrow as well.
Debt free and Keeping on Track
  • Sorry about the burned mouth @bubbs , something Ive done a thousand times, and burned fingers, totally oblivious to it nowadays ( years of working in kitchens )

@nornironrose, no its not "bad" just monotonous. TBH if it were me, Id just go and make a plate of chips , hand cut, in the air fryer and have beans and cheese or gravy ,onions and peas and sit and eat it and enjoy the idea of having something that is comforting and filling and syn free. Or big fat wedges with some cajun seasoning. Id rather sit and eat from a plate rather then pick. Picking never fills me, and its just too easy to loose track of what Ive eaten. Its taken me a while to get from picking to eating but its working so much better for me

As for being on target being less stressful, nope its not. Ive spent six months losing weight, six months of trying my best to stick to plan to loose weight and now Im having to learn how to maintain that weight loss, and its not easy. If I stick to plan I loose, as Im trying to find my happy medium, Im gaining and I so dont want to gain weekly, so right now Im yo-yoing - last week a loss this week a gain - 1/2 pound. All of us who have hit target on the mouth of Christmas are struggling. Theres nice things everywhere and of course we want them and we dont want to be saying no all the time , but its a struggle to find the balance

So already today I feel like Im on a back foot and have decided the planned garlic bread has to remain in the freezer - tonights supper ( its always supper on Saturdays, dinner every other day lol ) is our favourite salmon chilli pasta, which we eat sat on the sofa in front of the fire watching Strictly and Dr Who - rock and roll lifestyle here you know :) That has always been our Saturday night supper unless we got a Chinese, but we actually prefer this, no dying of thirst all night and rumbly tums. Now of course I pimp it up with spinach and tomatoes thrown in for the speed and its so tasty and filling and rich and as I use the dairy lea lights as the base of the sauce, relatively syn light - table spoon of chilli sauce

So its still about being mindful, keeping hold of all the good habits and changes and not allowing the old ways to get too much of a foot in the door

I totally blew it yesterday, totally. Working elsewhere was ok in as far as everyone was lovely and the work was non stop so I was kept at it all shift - which I love. Unfortunately I was stood in the one spot all day so no steps worth talking about then it was pitch black and chucking it down at 4pm so no going out for a walk. Now this store has different menu, all proper home cooked loveliness , mince pie , made into deep bowls, pastry to die for , and guess who was offered two left over portions ? Yep I love a pie , love pastry even more :) I had already got them fish out to defrost which I was battering for then and I had a complete sod it moment and said while the chip pan is on, we are ALL having deep fried chips - me included So mince pie and chips it was for me - 2 portions of, although I took the pastry off one.

Was ruddy loverly though, although its going to be months before I do it again. Just reminded me so much of tea at my nans when I was a child, that big domed pie that you cut into slices that held their shape as they were so packed full of mince, carrots and onions,, thin crispy pastry, blimey even thinking about it now Im drooling

Still a good day planned for tomorrow, Im working 1-5 so Im doing a slow cooked beef casserole packed with veg and just serving with mash. Ive got a leg of lamb in the freezer which Im just about to get out and that will do us Monday to Wednesday at least so loads of veg will be consumed - roast dinner, cold and bubble and a curry coming up :)

Its a bother dark chucking it down day here so Im lighting the fire and not moving far

Have a good weekend everyone xxx

Yes, it's a whole new ball game being at target @Longwalker. I think perhaps you notice the small fluctuations (half a pound is nothing really) more when you're weighing every week and trying to stay in that narrow window. Like @joedenise said, clothes are a good indication. I was delighted when I was trying on some outfits for tonight and I can tell I'm well within target as everything fits, no fat bits that need disguising. 👍

At one time @NornironRose, consultants used to say it's OK to 'fill your boots' with free food like your potatoes. It's not so common now and I've always thought it doesn't make sense. You'll probably be fine but I think you should try to match the free food with Speed otherwise it doesn't fit with the third of each food values. Just take every opportunity to get extra Speed into your meals and snacks, especially vegetables like @Longwalker did with the pasta meal.

Glad to hear the funeral went well @MrsPorridge and well done for getting back on plan straight away. I think over the next few weeks, the best we can do is have as many SW friendly meals as possible in between the Christmas treats.

I'm out tonight for another Christmas dance. I'll have syns to spare as I'm driving so won't be using any for drinks. Last year, they served a beef casserole for non veggies so potentially syns in oil, cornflour and possibly wine. We'll see what's on the menu tonight. I'll skip pudding unless it's something I really like perhaps a fruit salad. I wouldn't waste syns on something gooey like gateau. ☹️

I've had a SW breakfast (fry up) and a JP with cottage cheese and pickles for lunch. Will post later what happens at dinner.

Really disappointed as got to Yo! Sushi to be told the TGTG bag had been cancelled!  It was cancelled as we were on our way - just 25 minutes before we were due to pick it up!  So I've ended up using my HEB and having a BLT for lunch.

@NornIronRose - you definitely need to have some speed foods as well as the air fried potatoes.  You'll probably be OK but you need to be mindful of the necessity of a third Speed foods.  You know it's OK to eat loads - you've only got to look at the photos that @bubbs posts!  But you do need to have more than just carbs.

Glad the funeral went as well as those things can.  It was a very long day for you.  Enjoy your time away.

Enjoy your Christmas Dance and hopefully there will be something SW friendly to eat.

    Afternoon all 😁

Yes our consultant always says if you have a pile of free food , have a pile of speed with it.

Longwalker you will never weigh the same constantly, your body fluctuates with fluid, food, time of day etc that's why we have the window. It's actually my throat that's burnt 😫 when i have burnt my mouth it has felt better 24/36 hrs later we are now coming up 72 hrs, even hurts swallowing tea 🙄

I put 0.5 on today , so put my shoes on, not enough then my coat with keys in my pocket 🤣🤣

I had a banana at group, had to pop over Corby so went company shop and got big pots yogurt 60p 😁😁 M&S cooked twin pack chicken breasts 35p!! That was all.

Had a chicken salad pitta for lunch with said chicken, just removed the skin and it was lovely 😋😋

Denise it has been horrible here all morning, stopped raining now but the wind has got up

Congratulations on your gain @bubbs! 👍🤣
  • @bubbs, I long for the day when I have to weigh in in shoes and coat lol. Im still in leggings and vest and bare feet. It was commented on by one of the ladies and I just explained this was what I was first weighed in wearing and its what I always wear. Yes I have to take my big coat and boots off, no way am Im wearing thongs and just a fleece in the weather we have here , Id freeze :)

Actually the lass who commented, shes like me, shes struggling with the measly 1/2 losses and when chatting with her, shes another veggie dodger and only eats satsumas. Shes also not a confident cook and buys convenience food. So I gave her some ideas for cooking sweet potatoes and for doing roasted veggies and she says she will give it a go. Like me its texture issues that stops her trying. So shes promised me she will do roasted butternut squash and sweet potato as a dish once I explained how to do it. I know they arent speed, but they are free and hopefully they will give her a wee nudge into trying different veg cooked in different ways

I know I like some veg and totally dislike others, and I like the veg mum doesn't so its a struggle for me as well. Soup comes to the rescue a lot although thats a different battle as Mr L likes the Irish Vegetable broth where as I like a smooth soup and mum will only take leek and potato lol

Totally off topic, but just back from Tesco where I had to pay silly amounts of money for UHT milk - near twice lidl price but they had none. They have their finest outdoor reared Gammon and finest rump beef on half price club card offer - total bargain. Got a huge gammon and a decent lump of beef. Id lifted the Turkey ( whole, boned and rolled ) during the week as last year couldn't get one for love nor money , so all the Christmas to New year meats got  - roll on veggie wars :)

@Longwalker - butternut squash is a Speed food so you were half right!

I looked at the gammon joints in Tesco but like you say they were huge!  I just haven't got enough freezer space for anything that big.  Not bothering with turkey at the moment but will wait until after Christmas and hopefully they'll be sold off cheap and I'll have a bit of freezer space!

I've got a leg of lamb in the freezer to have for new year so don't need to worry about that now - got that in Sainsbury when they had them on half price offer a few weeks ago.

Trying to use up some food from the freezer over the next couple of weeks to make room for freezing some of the cheap veg once the veg wars start in just over a week's time!

Well done on the gain @bubbs 🤣😜 And enjoy your Christmas dance @maman

I lost a pound this morning. Probably put it back on already as I was out for the first of many lunches and dinners this afternoon!  Had lasagne  but no garlic bread or chips and asked for extra salad 😇. Didn’t, have pudding but there was wine - and a few gins.  Totally stuffed and no plans to have anything else today.

Got inspiration from Rose and bought some of those Finn crisp things for a different HEB.  Also bought a couple of packs of freezer bags in preparation for veg wars 😁
