@NornIronRose - it doesn't matter when you eat just what you eat so you're fine having your food now if that's when you want it.  Not something I could ever do!  If it gets to late I seem to get over hungry and can't eat anything at all.
  • Well I was home and in me nightie at 10:15, kind of tells it own tale :)

Off the scale was the pint of cider I had. Dinner was ok, I skipped the spuds , had the turkey and ham, carrots and cauliflower and the dessert and starter were trios - a spoonful so Im not in the slightest concerned about those either  and after my "purge" this morning and not eating all day, plus a wee 5k early afternoon, it should all even out

It was just a bloody boring night tbh. Half the table worked in the other store, "our half" included the one lass I just can not warm too, so it really was just 4 singletons sat together with just work in common, and like I dont go out to talk about work. So I bought a drink and said I was going to sit in the lobby to wait for my cab, and you know Im so used to socialising alone, plus years of hospitality behind me, it really wasnt a bother, I was happy enough. Only another lass saw me there and felt she had to keep me company. God forgive me, I dont mean to be rude or ungrateful, but its a struggle to make conversation with a complete stranger once you get past the usual pleasantries

All the fun was at the managers table, she was blitzed lol. So were the lads I usually speak with and the drink was flying and the craic was mighty and if I had been that table, I reckon me and the manager would be table dancing now lol

But I went and I passed myself and got home safe and sober so thats a win

Mind Mr L went on to town and got KFC and Im like Id rip my right arm off for one. You live this far away from towns, fast food is a rare treat, very rare. We have to go in on Thursday , his car has to go in, so we are doing the Christmas pressies that day, and already Im planning for a Greggs Festive Bake for brekkie follow by a KFC for lunch :)

    Morning all,

I weighed in yesterday with a 1lb loss so nicely back in target and happy with that. Will try to weigh in once more before Christmas. I’m not at group next Saturday as I have a wreath making class with the WI.

Welcome back @joedenise – glad you had a good time away x

Great losses @bubbs and @Longwalker. Yes definitely don’t pay to be too light @bubbs – that’s nuts. Glad you felt well enough to go out @Longwalker but agree that when there’s only work in common it’s a bit butt-clenching. I don’t think I’ve ever been that sociable tbh!!

Breakfast was a banana and hi fi at group and lunch was poached egg, 1 WM toast, tomatoes and mushrooms. We had a new gammon recipe last night – cooked on the hob for 1.5 hours then glazed with chilli jam and roasted. Lots of the chilli jam ended up blackened in the pan, so hopefully minimum syns. I did SW roaties for me with steamed Cavolo Nero and (naughty) cauli cheese.

Today I’m having maple porridge for breakfast – the M&S sachets are a HEB choice. We are trimming up the house today but will go to the garden centre/outlet for a mooch too.

Have found an insulated bento box so have filled it with boiling water and will see how hot it is later. If it works this could solve my work lunch issue.

Welcome @Mrbowie. Great idea to make a start now, so easy to just keep putting things off. I'm assuming you plan to go it alone, using your books rather than attend a group. That's perfectly possible but do ask if you have any questions like syn values or anything at all.😊

Sorry to hear about your awful day @bubbs. Sending you a big hug.🤗 I'm glad you stayed on plan as keeping your strength up will help you. Hope you enjoyed your first chicken casserole! I use a recipe from an old Co-op magazine from years ago that fits SW perfectly, like yours there's only cornflour to be synned.

The Neville's bread is a Tesco own brand @NornIronRose. Like @Longwalker said, it's so useful to have two large slices of bread either for a sandwich or to split between two meals.

Happy St Andrew's Day to you too @beanielou .We had an early celebration last Sunday. I bought some Proper crisps on your recommendation  when I was out this morning. The plan is to keep them for Christmas. 🤔

Well done on your increased exercise @ruby_eskimo. I'm sure you'll get back to your running soon. It's less than a month to the shortest day and starting to get lighter! 🤣

Congratulations on your 2lbs loss @SingleSue. You've done so well. Delighted for you! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I think there is a certain amount of calorie counting built into SW, after all fruit and veg is far lower in calories than other foods and having lean protein and plainly cooked carbs cuts out loads too. Apparently 1 syn approximates to 25 calories as a rule of thumb. There used to be someone on here that did SW alongside the MyFitnessPal app so she ate SW and checked the calories at the same time. Personally, I like the fact that I don't have to count calories but I can see why it would work for some people.

I wonder if Miss Moanalot is enjoying having a fresh pair of ears in the office to batter @Coxy11? Hopefully you'll get used to the new routine. Well done for preparing/planning your lunches .👍🏼 Good news that your boss won't be there for three weeks @Jellybaby, that'll make your extra time so much easier to cope with.

I went to WI this morning and thrilled to have 2.5lbs off!😁 So I'm well in range now and no need to go to WI until the end of January although consultant did say that if you want a new book free then you'll have to WI between Christmas and New Year.

    Today's plan-
B- HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA milk
    L- JP (F), tuna (P), salad and beetroot (S)
D- savoury mince (P,S), new potatoes, peas (F), cauli, broccoli, cabbages (S)
    Syns- LTL mayo 1
Thanks, yep going it alone, group used to make me feel anxious on weigh day so I'm going at my own pace. It will be great to know some syn values going forward 👍

Morning all, really cold again this morning and now trying to rain!  Things are back to normal so 2 machine loads of washing done and hanging on the airer and some in the shower as couldn't get it all on the airer.  Hopefully it'll be dry by morning otherwise the stuff in the shower will need to go back in the wet washing basket while we have our showers before going back in.  Still got at least 2 more loads to do as didn't get as much done before we went away as I'd hoped.

Welcome @Mrbowie - sorry I didn't say it yesterday when I posted but as I said had only skim read.  If it would help you then it might be an idea to post up your meal plans so we can pick up if anything is amiss!  It's amazing how much you can miss just trying to use the books to go it alone.  Things like not getting enough Speed foods in and relying on free foods and syns to get you through the day but as @maman says there's usually someone around who can help you with syns values etc.

Well done @Coxy11 on getting back into target range.  Sorry to hear about your dad though, hope things get sorted quickly.

Pleased to say that when I jumped on the scales this morning it doesn't look as though I've done too much damage - only put on about half lb so still in target.  Can't get to group this week as need to take my car in for service and MOT on Wednesday morning and have the boiler man coming to service the boiler in the afternoon so will definitely go next week and hopefully that will be it before Christmas and won't need to go again until at least end of January/beginning of February so will give me a couple of weeks after my AI holiday to shift any weight put on!!!

    So today's plan:

    B - cheese omelette - HEA2; P
L - burger, onions, gherkins in WM pitta bread - HEB; S; 0.5
D - roast pork, roast potatoes, roasted onions, green beans, peas - P; S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - pitta bread
Syns - LF burger 0.5; couple of G&Ts tonight 6

Will be popping over to Morrisons later as have ordered a TGTG bag so once I see what's in it I can do the rest of my shopping.

    Have a good day everyone.

Sorry I've been MIA in the last couple of days. Just been busy but I've read along although not posted.

Great losses! Well done all! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 It's just the right time to lose a few lbs. It's not inevitable that we'll gain over Christmas but don't beat yourself up if you do. That said, Christmas is still weeks away although I find the meals out and nibbles in the lead up harder than the few days of Christmas itself.

Congratulations on your first stone @MrsPorridge! 👍🏼

If you're adamant you don't want to lower your target then it's either get dressed up or break open the Christmas chocolates @bubbs! I agree with @Coxy11 that it just wouldn't do to pay to put on weight!!

Sorry to hear your dad is going through the mill with his treatment @Coxy11. It must be so hard with him being far away. 🤗

Welcome back @joedenise, that tiny gain isn't bad at all. You did well for weather on the IoW, hardly any rain and some sunny spells. Glad you enjoyed it.

That doesn't sound like the most exciting night out @Longwalker. At least you know you looked good. 😊

I was out last night, journey there was OK until I got into NF then freezing fog . It was hard, seeing where I was going and looking out for the ponies. Fortunately, by the time I came home it had rained and no fog or frost. Today it's a balmy 8 degrees! 🤣

Because I was out and driving, I didn't have any wine last night . I didn't have much on Friday either as I was tired and fell asleep earlyish. So hardly any syns used from the bank this week. I might have some crackling later! 🤣

    Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, egg, bacon (P), baked beans (F)
L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), spring onions, tomatoes, pickles (S)
D- JO roast pork (P) , SW roast potatoes (F), loads of Speed veg (S)
    Syns- gravy 4, weekend wine😁

  • Knew you would be fine re gain @jodenise. Its just second nature I think when you have been on the programme for so long to pick as wisely as you can and also the further I am on my journey, Ive noticed my portion sizes are getting much smaller, plus all that sight seeing, the steps soon add up :)

@maman, it was excruciating in only the way work dos can be :)  Hence its the first one Ive been too in years. Usually I do what everyone else does - get plastered, show myself up and have to live with it :) But Nope, Ive got to learn how to behave in company - sober

And I did look good, not beautiful or anything, but a well put together outfit which fitted to perfection, no bulges busting out all over :) Actually went to the pub before hand, had to drop some bits around for their charity evening , and a long time customer called me over and said "Im not being cheeky or smart, but you are looking amazing, you have lost some weight there, you look as you used to when you worked here" Talk about an ego boost :)

Anyways stomach still giving me gyp, doubled up again this morning in agony. Seems its a bug going about so Im just going to have to ride it out. Still I should get a good result this week on the scales :)

Made a HUGE batch of scones. Recipe from work, wanted to try it. Told the pastry chef to scale it down for 6-8 scones, Ive 2 dozen sat there, think she got it wrong slightly :) Still I shall bag up and freeze .

All Ive managed today was a half scone - sampling reasons - and straight through. Im doing a roast beef dinner tonight, roasties, carrots and parsnip mash, cauliflower. I also picked up a bag of frozen shredded Brussels and pancetta to give a try. So theres bound to be syns there , Ive not looked, but I doubt if it will be staying in me long enough to count :) Sorry, TMI I know

    Afternoon all 😁

Maman, i would have changed it if it was not so near Christmas, No i am not breaking the chocolates open yet as don't know when to stop!🤣🤣 and i have not bought them yet!

Good that you are still in target Denise after your holiday 😁

Longwalker, sorry it was crap last night, i am not good at these things either. Hope your tummy is soon better x

Well back from taking Mum to the hospital appointment, why the hell they couldn't tell her over the phone i don't know! Weather is awful that way thick fog and rain, we have rain, also they have had a bit of snow, not alot but they can keep it.

The CT scan showed up a cyst on the Adrenal gland on the kidney, but he is sure it's nothing sinister but they need radiologist to look at it in more depth, this happens on Thursday, they will ring Friday or Monday , but why they couldn't tell her this on the phone i don't know! But we are happier as he said he was 99% sure it wasn't, Mum said what happens if it is? Matter of factly he said Kidney removed!

    Food today

Soft pitta, hexb, LM red onion sausage , mushrooms and egg stuffed in it.

Roast pork, 2 syns yorkies, tonnes speed veg, 4 syns gravy

Got a great TGTG bag this afternoon - really SW friendly and most importantly NO BREAD!!!!

Got a box of Clemantines (they cost £3.50 on their own and the bag was only £3.09!), grapes, raspberries, 6 apples, pack of baby corn, 2 courgettes, 2 packs corridander, lettuce, pack of large onions.  Really pleased with that little lot.

@Longwalker I never used to go to work do's - my excuse was because I lived a long way from work and really didn't want to have to travel for nearly 2 hours after it had finished.  Would also have cost a fortune for a taxi from the station!  No buses after 6pm!

Enjoy your crackling @maman!  If my pork has any on it I may well indulge in a small piece!

Drs can be a real pain about things can't they @bubbs!  Agree they could have told your mum over the phone so a lot of time wasted getting there and back for not very much info but good that it seems OK.

  • Sounds like fairly good news for your mum bubbs. Hopefully she won't end up losing a kidney but it could have been worse.
