You're really into those puddings @bubbs. Who knows, you might even manage a gain on Saturday! 🤣

That happened to me @joedenise. I did a JO recipe where he stirs spinach and watercress into chicken in  sauce. But I had bistro salad too and the sauce turned pink! 🤣
  • Thanks maman. I really do need to meal plan.
I still need to get the rest of the kitchen boxes unpacked. Problem is a quite small fridge and freezer. I've been so spoiled the last lot of years with a large American style fridge freezer. But getting used to the smaller kitchen now. And the bonus is that it doesn't take long to clean.

Ended up this evening with half a chicken kebab plus two eggs on a chicken salad. About 3 syns.
Then a wee tray of grapes plus a wee block of mature cheese, sugar puffs, and an Options mint. Took a square of dark choc up too but I don't need it after the sugar puffs.

  • So heres the lunch menu

Im going for the chilli beef and swapping out to the rice and I might take the asparagus side if its grilled

Im going for lunch on Monday as well with another friend, we have a training course in the morning. 2 courses £16 or a main and a glass of wine. Ive checked the menu and am going for the fish linguine or the Arabian Spinach which is a chickpea and spinach stew .  They do a fantastic ceaser salad which is my usual starter, but SW its not so Ill just go main course and the small wine

Oh Lordy, Im becoming a lady who lunches :)

@MrsPorridge, sorry to hear you are poorly, perhaps swap to the Beecham powders / tabs ?. Im pretty lucky that I dont have a sweet tooth so I dont mind them at all.

@maman, I do a loose meal plan. I see whats on special/reduced and work around that. Like mince, that can be whatever within a few minutes, I tend to decide when I get home. Like tonight was going to be cottage pie, only I got home totally knackered at 6 so it was just mince and potatoes , that extra step was beyond me and getting dinner on the table by 7. Now cos of my food foibles , I will eat cottage pie but I cant stand mince and potatoes so I made their mash cheesy and I took a bowl of sweet potato and butternut squash soup and 2 slices of wholemeal with a wee spread of marmite. So very filling and seeing as I came home with my tummy feeling my throat was cut, Im amazed it filled me as much - so far I have resisted finding something to nibble. So for me today Ive gone over my HEB as I had oat bran in my yoghurt, but I think I need the fibre, help with the bowels a bit

Been feeling a tad out of sorts myself these past few weeks. I get feeling like Ive the cold from hell for a day, following day Im grand, two days later Im back completely wiped out . Today it was palpitations , shook me for a while but I pumped the fluids into me, even took my first cuppa for months and resisted the offer of the left over scones - OMG they are scrummy but after the way I was left feeling the other day, I left well alone

Got my steps in today, even though it was way too stormy to get out tonight , and Im tired, very tired, so hopefully Ill get a decent nights sleep . Extremely stormy out there, hold on for dear life to the car door stormy, yet not a mention, unlike the last two storms where we were under alerts and nowt happened :)
  • Sounds like you need a bit of a decent rest Longwalker. Some self love.

I am meeting friends next week for dinner so we are going to a Turkish place and I will go for something like grilled chicken with salad.
Have work Xmas do next Fri and I chose from the menu weeks ago before SW. Was looking forward to it but now not so much. I seem to remember a trio of vegetarian tarts as a starter, no idea for main, then chocolate something or other for dessert lol.

Was meant to be out for dinner tomorrow evening too but thankfully that is cancelled so off to the cinema with dd2 instead if we can agree on what to watch.

Off to the park for a run with lovely friends and some newbies this morning cos I'm off! Then IKEA in MK for bedroom furniture for dd2.

Have a good day all. Oh, I need to meal plan too.

Good morning all, have been reading, but not posting for a couple of weeks, dark, short days have brought on the SAD, have managed fair amount of walking (plus side of being a dog parent) and also cooked some tasty nourishing meals with some extras for the freezer, however have been CBA with some of my breakfasts and lunches, consequently gained 2.5 lbs since WI 2 weeks ago, still have some leeway, but trying hard to stay on plan now.

Great news on the losses @joedenise, @NornIronRose and all others that I have missed.
@MrsPorridge, I hope that you are feeling better now.
@Coxy11 I hope the days pass quickly at work for you now.

I have always done a rough menu plan from what is available in the house and adding in some things I spot in the butchers or farm shop, we eat meat and fish as well as quick bacon, eggs, beans etc. and at least 2 meals are with salads and mostly the rest with veggies.  I tend not to buy much supermarket meat, I live in a small town with great butchers and bakers, we have enough money to cover the aim of trying to keep our small producers and shops going, I do realise that many cannot do this because of availability, or funds being needed elsewhere, there were a lot of years when I couldn't either.

Have a good day, may the sun shine and the wind blow (just a little) to get the washing dry for all.  Vain hope here, back garden faces the wrong way.

The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)
