Thanks for kind words. BIL wasn't close and even in the eulogy they said he was grumpy! But he did have good points and SIL has 4 very supportive DDs.

You're supposed to be having syns @bubbs but good that you know you can enjoy the squirty cream on your doughnuts.

Shame the NT couldn't do a decent lunch @joedenise. That's unusual but I suppose it's out of season. 🤔 Back on it tomorrow. 😊
  • Donuts????? Tell me more!

I have a food baby and I don't feel good with it.
Poached some chicken,  sliced some and put it in a pan with broccoli, cauliflower and beansprouts. A couple of syns for sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce and just fried it all off with no oil. Had it with about a cupful of boiled rice. Trumping away and my daughter is disgusted as only a teen can be lol.

Dinner was tasty and even DD cleared her plate. Had only had an apple and pear earlier today but that big dinner has made me worried for WI tomorrow. I suppose the food baby will have dissipated by 7.30pm tomorrow so why does it feel wrong? At least I won't eat anything more now.  Just a big drink of squash.

  • Any idea what to use as an alternative as I don't have a donut thingy?
And I take it that it is a one person portion thing? Sorry. My words aren't working as I'm half asleep..
  • @coxy11, the dog looks at me in total disgust lol. Its so weird, I go to the loo in the mornings, always been regular like that which is handy, then Ill be grand , till I walk in the door in the evening and OMG its pure evil. Its only recently been a problem and Im thinking its the change of work - I easily put in 10K steps in work in the 4 hours. And a big bowl of yoghurt/fruit/fibre in me with maybe a cup of veg soup or a wee baby bel if I get picky. I drink a lot of squash in work as its so hot and dashing about makes real thirsty work

@maman, sorry for you loss. Did you read the article over the weekend saying us over here deal with death a lot better because of the fact we have wakes? As you say its good to meet up with family and thats what a wake does, the family from all over turn up and sit at the deceased's house for the two days between death and the funeral, with friends and neighbours popping in to pay respects. Usually ends up one big party, lots of laughter amongst the tears

@joedenise , shame about the NT. I used to love a day out to a NT property and the Tea was part of it, a real treat indeed. And it is hard to find anywhere that is SW friendly since the cost of living crises. Menus seem to be full of cheaper items to keep costs down and usually means everything is through the chip pan, or pasty or bread laden.

@Nornironrose - I too had that food baby last night and god I felt awful. Now in all fairness Ive been as good as gold, tea last night was a piece of chicken ( air fryer ) 1 potato croquette ( air fryer ) and a huge mixed salad with a drizzle of FF dressing , then it went wrong - big time lol.

Im working to 4:30 this week which is close. At close the scones are given away free to staff. Now I had already taken one around 4pm, cut into 4 and shared with the other two I was working with, I just wanted to sample one but that was it - will power cracked and when I was offered to take some home, I took a couple and straight after dinner, I mean straight after, I sat and scoffed a cherry scone. Now I did that because I wanted it and knew if I sat and let my dinner settle I wouldn't have touched it. Blimey I was uncomfortable all night and had to put my nightie on cos I felt so bloated my clothes felt tight. Wasnt a nice feeling at all as it was so reminiscent of what I did before, big clothes felt tight - sit in nightdress all day so I didnt have to face it

Hopefully that has put the fear of god in me and there will be no more scones that I dont need !!

So back on track today. Ill get lots of steps in today and Ive the dog to walk today and hopefully the weather will be better this evening and I get my walk in with friend. Also have my fruit and yoghurt to hand, Ive soups everywhere ( must get some into the freezer )  Dinner will be the rest of the Turkey and veg or I might do a cottage pie not decided yet , actually probably cottage pie as Ive more frozen veg then fresh in at the moment and I can shove that in. Cottage pie is served with baked beans in this house - gawd help the family tonight lol

Have a good day everyone xxx

Morning all, overslept this morning!  DH woke me up about 7.45am as I have a waxing appointment at 9.15 this morning so will need to leave about 8.40 in order to get into town, park up and walk to the salon.  I can't eat as soon as I'm out of bed so think it's going to be a very late breakfast this morning!  Might even not bother and just have a Brunch about 12 instead.  Will see how I feel when I get back.

I jumped on the scales and had a quick look and, no idea why, it looks as though I've actually lost about half pound!  Doesn't make any difference though as not going to group this week.

Need to get some washing done so that I can get packed for the weekend.  Need to check the forecast to see if I'll be able to hang it out!  Hope I can as they'll be too much for the airer!

@NornIronRose - the recipe is the same as baked oats so you can just cook in a muffin pan or individual ramekins which is what I do.

    So today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs, spinach, toast (if I bother!) - HEB; P; S
L - Will either have the eggs as above or will make stuffed peppers (they can move to tomorrow if we don't have them!)
    D - lamb dhansak, rice (using LO roast lamb) - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - may need to use some honey if the curry needs it but doesn't always 2.5?

    Have a good day everyone.

You're so right about the deterioration in restaurant/cafe food since the Cost of Living crisis @Longwalker. Actually I think it goes back to Covid when places were trying to recoup some of their losses after lockdowns. Menus are full of extra bread and pastry to pad out the more expensive ingredients and veg is very thin on the ground. Plus, the hospitality industry suffered a lot after Brexit too so had increased staffing costs and tended to employ 'burger flippers' rather than proper chefs so deep frying and pinging became more of a thing. It's hard for any of us trying to follow SW but a general problem with eating healthily too.

I think genuine wakes are more of an Irish thing. Here it's a reception following the funeral but good to catch up with family and old friends either way.

I went for a walk earlier and popped into Iceland on the way home. I was running low on Frylight and their 3 for £5 offer is good value. I bumped into my consultant while I was in there, very proud to show her my basket!😇

There are videos on YouTube showing you how to make ring donuts without a proper mould @NornIronRose ,using bits of foil to block out the centre but they seem to be cheap enough on ebay.

I know what you mean about feeling really full and bloated the day before WI. I have a routine that makes sure I compare like with like. Not only do I always wear the same lightweight clothes but I watch my meals too. When I joined SW, I made a snap decision after breakfast one morning after dithering for some months. So I still have breakfast before I go. I know some people don't and take something to eat in group but I have my lightest breakfast, Puffed Wheat. The night before I have one of the HM ready meals from the freezer like Bolognese, chilli or meatballs. They are portioned up by weight when I do the batch cooking so I'm not inclined to over indulge. It probably doesn't make a huge difference but it gets my head in the right place. Bearing in mind that wearing/not wearing my sunglasses once made the difference between being in or out of target range, I'm not taking any chances! 🤣

It's good to see a drop on the scales @joedenise even if you aren't going to WI. Any loss now will help when you do go along or give you a bit of leeway for when you go to the IoW. Forecast is looking quite good, if colder, for the next 10 days or so. There is some rain but lots of dry days compared with what we've had recently.

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, scrambled eggs (P), tomatoes (S)
L- cold pork (P), fried veg and pickles (S), potato (F)
D- baked salmon (P), SW chips (F), carrot chips, green stuff, mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
    Syns- 0

Ended up not having breakfast until 10.30 so had the scrambled eggs then.  Didn't really want anything lunchtime although we did pop into Asda as they're doing soup and roll plus unlimited hot drinks for £1.  We got there just after 1pm and they'd run out!!!  So didn't actually have any lunch and not really feeling hungry so going to wait for dinner.  I'm sure I'll enjoy my curry and rice then!
