I agree with @EssexHebridean and @foxgloves - they are both very wise folk and not to be disagreed with!
  • That's incredibly kind of you @EssexHebridean, thank you. I'm sorry you experienced that

And cryptic crosswords, at least the ones not in the fancy papers, are generally learnable! You just look for a word that fits one part of the clue then work backwards to justify it, and get used to things like anagram indicators ('shakily', 'messily' etc) over time.
If I can give it a good go I promise anyone can!
  • Monday's doings:

Woke up at a normal person's time, albeit because of cramps

But up and little bit of work

    Admin comping tidying

    Quarter wussy situps

Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a two night hotel stay in London but I would also like a Gucci belt which is frankly tacky as heck and will suit me marvellously

I am back up to date with f&v portions, and trying not to give myself a hard time about being far behind with my steps.
I had wanted to clear the step backlog before Feb but at the end of the day (month) it's just an arbitrary line in the calendar.
Frustrating though, as I'm only far behind because of cold and period last month, feels like a bit of insult that I haven't been well enough to do enough of the only exercise I can do for a whole month and now I'm feeling rubbish again.

    Little lie down and reading

    Shower and hairwash

    Recovery lie down and read

Feeling disoriented with joints plus sinuses now including ear in their 'ooh is everything feeling s***, we'll join in too!' nonsense but managed a 20 minute walk to see if any local shops had the medication I need to take alongside other medication.
All daft prices so will try to manage with what I have left for now and just pay extra if I absolutely have to in next couple of days. Really do not want to have to pay £4 extra for the exact same thing though

Small hoover and changed sheets with mum's help, in hope pleasanter bedroom will encourage pleasanter health

So another no spend day at least!

I'd bloody love it if you won that tacky belt, @PennysIntoPounds. I think it sounds quite cheery!

  • Like a wally I thought the coop points ended at the end of Jan but it was the 24th. Apologies if I misinformed anyone.
Now to ponder whether or not to take back the lindt bunny for a refund and buy another elsewhere...

Totally agree with what EH said. You do amazingly well despite the pain and carry on carrying on as best you can.

I hope you win the tacky belt too 😆

I’m definitely not a genius at cryptic crosswords but enjoy the challenge. Sometimes I can’t get the clues at all my mind has to be in the right place. They are really clever. I really enjoy doing all types of crosswords in general and logic puzzles when I get time.

  • Thanks @foxgloves, the good thing about some high end pieces is you wouldn't be worried about getting mugged if you wore them out and about because they scream 'bought from a knock-off market' 😂

And thank you @Sun_Addict for your kind words too, both health and belt related 😁

All this talk of cryptic crosswords has reminded me that Mr PIP and I never did the GCHQ Christmas quiz sheet my cousin sent me- and a good thing too, as I just looked at it and can't make head nor tail- I would've got in a right sulk!

I have a request - can you stop referring to your sit-ups as "wussy sit ups"?! Question to the audience - raise your hand if you do daily sit ups of any variety?!
