Aye, I know @beanielou but I've had several cries over my recently departed family friend and if I start crying the deserved amount for everything and everyone I don't think I'll have time in my life to do anything else.
Do you want me to ask the online tutor if you can join in hers? I found out about it through local council so don't know if there'd be a funding issue but I also don't see why it would make any difference if its online.. DM me your email address if you want me to send it to her to add to her mailing list, or I can send you link5 -

No specific knowledge but we used to subscribe to the homebuilding magazines and there used to be a lot of adverts in the back for self build mortgages. Nice to be given some money from the bank and £5 interest is a nice bonus.0

Thanks @redofromstart, hoping to not have to do lots of work just to be able to have more work telling someone to please do some work, but that seems to be the theme of building!
I don't know how market speculators cope with the nerves @Blackcats, I feel daring not paying HMRC until January when the tax year ended in April 😂

I never put my tax cheque in the post until after the Xmas post is done. I didn't even have to pay mine then this year. Since they stopped me doing self assessment they have put me on simple assessment which normally comes in July for payment as usual. This year I had to ring them to chase it up as they still hadn't produced it & it came last week I have until 15/4 to pay. I did wonder if it was to do with all the extra simple assessment & then they had moved them all to the DWP side to deal with all the pension credit claims after the winter fuel payment thing. I think a lot of people claimed just to be awkward knowing they weren't entitled. Still it has got me an extra 3 months savings interest but I could have done without worrying if it had got lost in the post.

Oh my gosh @badmemory my nerves definitely couldn't take paying by post- we (in a well served area of London) get post maximum twice a week. My mum who lives nearby got two Christmas cards (from different people in different places who are diligent about sending on time) yesterday, January 24th! I dread to think what chaos the postal system and HMRC combined could create

I can't pay it on line as I've tried to open a gov gateway a/c & it says I already have one. If I try & access that it says it has been deleted because it is so long since it was used & to ring them to sort it. I tried that & got cut off after about an hour. So it will have to be by cheque. If it isn't about that sort of thing you can get through.

Ugh, what a pain @badmemory. I expect what with it being the nightmare that is hmrc you wouldn't be able to use a different email address etc as they'd say your NI number was allocated to a different one.
I did a hollow laugh at the news story earlier this week about them denying they were deliberately making their phone lines unusable, on the one hand the accusation sounded entirely true and on the other, the idea of hmrc being able to make a concerted effort to do anything was ludicrous3
