Apricot jam was the traditonal thing to use because it looks colourless on the cake and marzipan. I usually used to use whatever I had. I dont make a cake any more because it it still sitting uncut by Easter.Mr LH doesnt eat cake and I try to avoid cutting into it as once it is cut it has to be eaten quickly before it goes off.

@ladyholly You could always make a cake and freeze it in quarters or even slices so you dont feel the need to eat it quickly …… sorry for the temptation0

I adore marzipan & could eat a pack in a day if I wanted to be naughty. That's why I only have it in the house at cake-decorating time. I do have to be more careful with what I eat since last year's diagnosis of an IBD, but I read somewhere that if one has an urge for a slice of cake, then a really good fruit cake is probably the best choice. I buy virtually no supermarket/branded cakes as they seem to taste so factory-food like to me....or it could be that I ate so many of them as a child that it has had an aversion therapy effect!

I absolutely cannot bear marzipan, never have done.
Though oddly I did used to quite like disaronno. Can't stand that either now!
Haha, you're welcome @Slowdown. Great revenge to wait till now to put it back in my head, I respect your work 😂
Braved the weather this morning before it got even worse to get essentials which apparently included blueberry muffins

Wrote a letter explaining situation with relevant details to Currys, went online to try to find somewhere to email it to. Could only interact with AI chatbot. After trying to explain the very simple query several hundred times, I lost the will to live and went and had a beer on the sofa with Mr PIP instead.
Will try again tomorrow. Or another day. In the far future. Maybe when chatbots have been replaced with the humans they've put out of a job who can actually do the job.
Dinner is many cheeses and crackers and baguette and salad bits. With port. We don't mess around when we hunker down.
