    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Stop with all the scoff talk, I did so well yesterday, after 3 hours in a traffic jam I was starving so stopped at the local shop and bought that fresh pasta stuff that cooks in about 5 mins, a tomato and basil sauce, a garlic bread and some wine.   So much for not eating bought in processed foods (shrugs).

I did however avoid you all all sitting on my shoulder.  I did not purchase anything Christmas scoff - scoff - type.   I was so restrained!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

@Watty1 I see that as a compromise, not brilliant but not a takeaway.

  • I see that as a Mediterranean meal with a portion of five a day included!

Somehow the big tub of Quality Street here is unscathed but anything like mince pies and panettone will immediately become victims of the late morning and mid afternoon 'ooh isn't it cold and dark, shall I have a little something to keep me going, oh no, where did all the mince pies and panettone go'

I wouldn't dare have anything in the house until the week before Christmas.

I used to buy Jaffa cakes for my dgds because I don't like them.

Despite being a bit of a natural hog, I no longer find myself having naughty little dips into Christmas goodies. Since I discovered budgeting, it would annoy me too much that I'd have to re-buy them!

I must be one of a kind, if I buy food for Xmas, no matter what it is, sweets, chocolate, cakes etc, then I don’t touch it till Xmas. Tho once Xmas is here, that’s a different matter all together. Food fest begins.xx

  • Well you'll all enjoy this tale from today- an olioer near me listed a packet of 'Kipling Christmas cakes' so off I trotted. Only to find when reading the description on returning, that they're fruit cake with almond topping and icing. Me and mum don't like almond and Mr PIP doesn't like fruit cake 😂
