Enjoy haaving your rug down.In general I am not in favour of saving things for later. Time is short and later may never come. Sorry to be gloomy.

Thanks @KajiKita @beanielou
It's already made the room feel much cosier and if it gets stains or wear then so be it. Things aren't meant to last forever, they're meant to be enjoyed, and I'm proud of myself for allowing myself to be someone who enjoys a nice thing I actually own now. Very unnerving feeling, better put my hairshirt on! But my best hairshirt, obvs
Not gloomy at all to blimmin well give ones head a wobble and actually use the nice things you have @ladyholly3 -
Has just occurred that me that you if we are buying things as the ‘nice’ option what does that make everything else we own?
🤷2 -
Also nice but not in the daft 'being kept for unspecified time of special' category @WelshmansDaughter!
Although I hasten to add I ain't bought nuffin fancy, I'm only trying to be bold by, er, using my own things 😂3 -

If you find yourself in the area at any stage with MrPiP, and fancy popping into a pub, The Bear in Paddington seems to have that beer on draught relatively often. (Along with a wide range of others, both cask & keg!)
As for "saving things for best" there is a wonderful quote which can be found in the first post of each new thread in the "use up the toiletries we have" thread. I can't recall the exact wording, but it was along the lines of "If I had my time again, I would burn the pink candle shaped like a rose that melted in storage" - something about it struck a chord with us when the thread was running originally. We were delighted when we moved that we finally had sufficient space in the kitchen to have our "good" crockery out - and it now gets used regularly too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I want to read it too @South_coast but am not going to be able to do so before Mr PIP without him spotting it 😁
Thanks for the recommendation @EssexHebridean, and fully agreed on the candle sentiment. Will try to find the thread. That's so lovely to have the space to enjoy the good crockery 😊3 -
My joints have gone absolutely mad today and I am staggering around like it's closing time at wetherspoons.
Very annoying as I had a productive day lined up and don't feel like I can even do basics like shower and steps. Will try to persevere but meant to be going round mums tonight and to a retirement do tomorrow afternoon and don't want to let anyone down so may have to concede defeat and be lazy, harrumph2 -
Oh ouch Pip - please do remember to be kind to yourself and don't worry about (essentially) self-imposed requirements for "basics". I'm pretty certain that your general state of cleanliness is such that a day or even several without a shower won't sent MrPiP running away gagging, and a few days with a lower step count certainly won't be a problem! Also - nobody in your life who is actually important will feel "let down" by you saying "I'm so sorry, I can't do X and Y because I'm in a lot of pain and having a really bad day" What is the phrase again - those who matter won't mind, and those who mind, don't matter! 'Tis true, dat!
Looking after yourself and taking a "sick day" when needed isn't lazy, it's prioritising your own health. (and also frustrating as heck, without question!) xx🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
