As for travel costs, avoiding South of the river in favour of the civilised areas with decent tube coverage is the way round that...I'm glad you navigated your way through your friend's celebration of life. It's so hard when w what we really want is that they are still here with us to celebrate life together.2 -
I don't get that option @badmemory, how annoying.
Well you'll all just have to insert strikethroughs in your minds when you think appropriate
Cheers @Blackcats. Hard indeed.
And how could I forget the entirely affordable areas of Kensington and Sloane Square!2 -

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

In fairness it's easy to talk about ease of travel in London having moved out of it - even SE London is better than where I am now! (But our house would have cost me at least twice as much in London, so...!)
Also trying to work out strikethrough - it's the third icon from the right for me - bold, then italic, and then strikethrough🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
Balance as at 01/09/23 = £115,000.00 Balance as at 31/12/23 = £112,000.00
Balance as at 31/08/24 = £105,400.00 Balance as at 31/12/24 = £102,500.00

I found travel in SE London pretty good - in fact brilliant compared with where I am now in Kent! Hourly bus service which finishes at 6pm so no going out at night unless you drive! No buses on Sundays now either so can't go out unless you drive. Wasn't quite this bad 20+ years ago when we moved here but the buses are just getting worse. It's nearly an hour on the bus to get a train which only goes to the next town and then have to get another one to get into London!1

The buses round here seem to be improving steadily since it became the Bee Network. It used to be if you got behind one you were stuck as they never seemed to stop, whereas now they are stopping at most bus stops.

Comping whilst eating lunch for breakfast, oops

20 minute walk getting essentials from aldi
Cancelled prime before auto-renew
Prepped sauce for dinner (tortilla wraps)
Decided I don't have to pay myself back for not doing next research project as I went to do the survey anyway and it had been taken down before the expiry date so not my fault!
Half hour walk around charity shops looking for bits for Mr PIP's Christmas stocking to no avail. Am going to have to think outside the box for our £10 stocking challenge as charity shops have got so expensive.
Saw a small designer candle in one for £25. Absolutely not.

About to dissemble the 100 piece jigsaw I did last night. Yes, I finally did a jigsaw. I know it was only 100 pieces but basically it means I am well wholesome innit. My soul radiates with the brightness of autumn leaves, the crispness of a clear sky shineth in my mind, the goodness of homemade pumpkin soup courses through my veins. Fackin 'olesome.
