@PennysIntoPounds - at least the with Nationwide you don't have to set up a Standing Order to cover the £200 so can just put in what you can whenever you can during the month.
I currently have 13 regular savers, none of them are funded by standing order and none of them are required to be funded each month.

Which regular saver do you have @joedenise that must be funded by standing order?
The First Direct Regular saver requires funding via Standing Order although it can be set as low as £25.  I think you can add to it up to £300 per month.
  • Thanks all for your kind words, it went well and it was nice to see his family and familiar faces. I really bloody miss him though.

Thanks @joedenise for the heads up that the saver can be funded throughout the month, good to know.

We had some food at the celebration of life so still have the pizza for this evening, which is a relief as I'm not feeling energised to sort anything else out.
Will take a fiver off my I.O.ME for not having to get dinner in for tonight.

We decided to stay in and take a tenner off our I.O.MEs so Mr PIP is now I.O.Free, I'm up to 96.95 but as we're not going out I'm not tempted to get a weekend newspaper so I'm calling that I.O.Free for me too

Though there is another research group coming up I can apply for that's on the other side of London that I don't want to do so may have to recoup losses to myself for that too 😭😂

Why is it the BBE dates have to be written so small & in the case of tubes in the raised bit on the ends.  Now when I buy stuff I get the magnifying glass out & use a label to stick on stuff to tell me when it is due to expire.  I know my eyesight isn't great but why do they have to make it all so difficult.  I could understand if they put really short dates on things to make us re-buy but putting dates on that are hard to read would just make me ignore them, although I suppose many would say that it must be OOD so buy new.
  • I think that's probably it @badmemory, easier to make people think they need to buy again if the date is hard to find or see, or becomes worn away

Thanks @KajiKita, I was feeling pretty smug and domestic goddessy for thinking of the SPF dates marking, I can't lie 😂

Thanks for the information, I don't currently have that one but I keep thinking of getting a First Direct account, I'll note down the standing order requirement.

I wonder if the standing order requirement is to avoid them having to check the source of any receipts.  It should though be possible to change both the date and amount of that standing order.

Glad your friend’s celebration of life went off well, such a challenging thing though and yes, absolutely understand that wave of “but I miss them” all over again, it’s so tough. Well done for planning ahead to make sure you had easy food when you got back, and all the better that you were able to save it for the next day too!

IIRC with the FD reg saver they set the standing order up, which is a slightly odd way of doing things. I’ve got one of those, we’ve both got Nationwide ones, and we currently have a few others too - I finally got round to nothing all the details down so I could remember what I was doing with them!
