The mcd token was from a meal we had PiP. But I didn’t pay for it so I’m counting it as a win. Also got a random free McSpicy1

What a great competition win - see, they ARE worth plugging on with aren't they! Well done!
I'm not absolutely sure the back billing rules apply to pre-payment as technically you don't get a bill at all in that situation. Might be worth asking on the energy board though - there's some proper experts over there!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yay! Won a competition! Worth £350! Le Creuset and Filippo Berio! It was my absolute favourite comp I've entered lately, I am so pleased! Seen the comp running in a few places so congrats to all the other winners too 😊DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well done on the comp win. I lovely crudest! First time I dragged MrBC into a Le crueset outlet shop he nearly fainted from the shock of the prices and was not convinced by my explanation of quality and gorgeousness of the product! Anyway, I bought a shallow, lidded casserole dish in powder blue and we use it all the time. Point proven.1

About 25 years ago my mum bought me a small cast iron LC casserole dish which is still going strong. The cheap cast iron I bought shortly after died a crackled death some years ago.The only thing I found was that it was very heavy indeed. Great as a Dutch oven for breadMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I would love to have some of the aforementioned cookware but never been able to afford it. Congratulations on your win.

Definitely wins @WelshmansDaughter
Thanks @EssexHebridean, @LadyWithAPlan, @beanielou, @ladyholly, I'm still chuffed and shocked!
Excellent point proving @Blackcats and henceforth it shall be known as 'crudest' 😁
It's only one dish @beanielou so hopefully I'll be able to cope with the weight but I'm mainly planning on gazing at it adoringly anyway
@EssexHebridean et al Happily (hopefully) Mr PIP has had an apology from energy provider and an offer of £30 compensation so we'll take that, just a relief not to be drawn into yet another Kafkaesque debacle... and he then got another email later in the day saying they'd recalculated and actually they owe him £15 😂 eejits5 -
Other mse things from today:
Bit tired but much to do so on we march!
Admin
Tidying
Client work completed
Spec work
Comping
Bits from mums, including the rest of the potential ziffit/charity shop pile of books
Surveyor says he'll send the Thames requests today so we'll chase that early next week
Researching brackets for the bathroom shelves... why are brackets so grim?! We found one place that actually does the size we need in a design that doesn't offend my eyes, but they would cost £66 plus delivery...
This would obviously be a ridiculous amount to spend when something that costs a quid each would do the job just as well, especially when we're literally saving to have somewhere to live. But...
We would take them with us, and they would be appreciated, and we'd need to spend (granted, much less) money on brackets anyway so...
We're going to see if Ernie smiles upon us in July, and see where we can be extra stingey for the rest of June and a bit and make a judgement in a couple of weeks time as to whether this is silly or not. Thoughts welcome!
Other client job done, he'll get back to me with any adjustments that need doing tomorrow
Called and got my nectar points added from the clock purchase as hadn't realised at the time Habitat was under the Argos umbrella. Only 8p but it's my 8p
Entered the Omaze London house comp by postcard. It will be a busy time managing both the London and the Surrey house wins but I expect I shall rise to the challenge
Mr PIP attempted to call the Ward Councillor office as it's been a week and we haven't even had an acknowledgement. The number listed is just to the council's main switchboard. Which is entirely automated. Without getting even vaguely near the options we need.
So he sent an email to the ward councillor's local political party branch asking if his enquiry could be passed on. We'll give it another week and then I guess, er, make a complaint to the council. About the council. Which I'm sure will go down well and really help our cause. But we've rather run out of options
Three quarters wussy situps
30 minute carpet walk reading book for ziffit pile
Few more books accepted by ziffit
Had a lovely local drink with mum and some old neighbourhood friends this evening, dinner was egg chip and beans
No deadlines tomorrow so will allow myself a snoozy lie-in. And probably wake up at the crack of dawn!
