Is there any way you could pimp up the plain brackets at a low cost?

Could you put beautiful treasures on the shelf to distract your eyes from the sensible MSE brackets?
I expect there will be a marvellous compounding calculation that will tell you how much that £72 will be worth in 2 years.  Another £28 and I think it will be 0.1% of your £100,000 but decimal points are not my forte.
hope you've had a nice day
  • Good advice @badmemory. Didn't even resort to screaming into a pillow as the bed was already made and I wasn't doing it again

Hi @Pollie, nice to see you, and good suggestion- we discussed paint spraying them but it's still spending money and time we don't have so we'll just make do. I mean, plain white metal, with obvious screws, and tapered pointy bits. It's great. It'll be well Scandi. I'll stick a candle on the shelves and hygge the eff out of it

Excellent points @Blackcats, I mean, we got these shelves built to have somewhere to put toiletries but I'm afraid beautiful (already owned obvs) fripperies are just going to have to take priority.
I am also not a woman who has ever quite grasped what decimal points are up to (though I'm deeply suspicious that they're always loitering about) but definitely not spending money is better than spending it at the current time!

  • We (credit where credit is due, mostly Mr PIP) have been productive

Paint the shelves- Done as much as we can at this point
Buy plain brackets- haven't done but shelves not ready yet. Will attempt tomorrow
    Put clocks up- done
Buy picture nails- not needed, small money saving
Put pictures up- lots done still some to do
Big flat clean- done, joints not best pleased
Do situps- still crampy, sacked that off till tomorrow
    Do spec work- done
    Do more admin- done
Do lots of listings- did two, will do more tomorrow. Proud of the two though as it is a tedious and annoying task
Use remnants of M&S voucher for dinner- done, so money saved, still some left on voucher

Possibly attempt to switch my phone to Mr PIPs old one- nope
Possibly attempt to work out how to wipe ipad-  Absolutely nope

Try not to cry- have not cried
    Beer- bravely achieved.

Still feeling very stressy and powerless and wanting to cry and despising the council for making our lives like this for no reason other than that they can get away with it knowing there's nothing we can do about it and it's no skin off their nose if we're homeless in two years time.
Still, Sunday tomorrow and we all know the rule, no bad vibes on a Sunday, so will just have to smash it and have a lovely day.

Hope everyone has had a grand Saturday full of niceness and money saving x

  • Thank you @KajiKita I'm trying to do the things but sitting around in my jimjams doing nothing is going so well it seems a shame to stop 😁

Sorry to hear you’re feeling down. I can only imagine how cheesed off you are with the council. I really hope some significant improvement in the situation happens asap 🤞🙏
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Have been in a lazy mood so didn't do the walks and shops and pub drinks that were planned but did manage bits and bobs throughout the day (in my jimjams 😁)

Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a two night hotel stay with dinner and drinks

20 minute carpet walk reading a book I got for my birthday, Birnham Wood by Eleanor Catton, really enjoying it. I think @foxgloves has previously said she recommends it too

Shower and hairwash, and used the LED face mask I got for my birthday a là @LadyWithAPlan
I am very much not someone who does beauty dedication but will try to make an effort to give it a go for a while!

    30 minute carpet walk pottering

Footie on while I had a clear out of my makeup box. A friend was talking about this big legal issue with talc, which is used in most makeup, causing cancer, so thought I'd at least get rid of some of the old stuff I never use anyway

30 minute carpet walk with footie on

Beer on the sofa with Mr PIP watching the rest of the England match

15 minute celebratory carpet walk when England equalised. What an absolute beauty from Bellingham

Bedding changed, Olio free listing put up.
Dinner is freezer-raided leftover pasta portions with leaves and cheesy garlic flatbread
