I arrived home just after 9pm last night. Had to make a few diversions as a section of the M20 was closed as was the southbound A3!
Had a restful night. Bit of a lazy morning, but exercises and all the washing done. Will do a small shop later. Just catching up with surveys and general correspondence.
Have the voluntary heart scan tomorrow and then off to Swindon for a couple of days before collecting relative from Wales on Thursday and then back home.
Updated finances last night and everything is back on track.
I have commented on a couple of other threads this morning advising people not to give up their TV licence which I consider very good value in comparison with subscription services. I find BBC iplayer and using apps like my4, my5 and ITVX give me all I want. Lots of other free channels too.6 -
Glad you arrived home safely despite the road closures. I think the A3 has reopened now. I head northbound tomorrow.
I just have free view, a recordable free view box and tv licence which provides enough for my needs.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Yes A3 is open. Apparently it was closed to allow a huge crane to put a new bridge in place at the A3/M25 interchange. There are major roadworks going on there for at least another year. Have a safe journey hone.1

As a teacher, I went part time in September when I turned 57. A colleague of mine dropped down dead the previous year at 58 which was a wake-up call. Part time was such a good decision for me - my weekends now start Wednesday evening. As I took my teacher pension early, and am also receiving a salary, HMRC keep changing my tax code so not sure what I will get exactly each month.
After lots of tracking expenses, simulations and spreadsheets I reckon my wife and I should pull in £30k a year after tax, index linked to inflation. No mortgage and children grown up and done university. Pretty hopeful we can lead a good life on this amount.
Half term starts for me at the end of today.10 -
Tastiger I am sure you will! £30000 seems excellent especially if you have state pensions to look forward too in the future
Returned from Wales with relative last night. Some of the rainfall on the way home was extreme!
Actually pleased to be back. Compared to elsewhere we are having good weather. It has been warm and sunny most of the day. Washing is actually drying in the sun.
When away I have been staying at Premier Inns as I find them comfortable, good value and enjoy the breakfasts. However, in Swindon this week the breakfast on the first morning was rather dry and poorly presented and yesterday morning no cooked breakfast was available at all. I sent an email saying I was disappointed as I usually find their service very good. Within a couple of hours I received a reply apologising and saying a refund for both breakfasts was on its way. I'm quite impressed!
I have to say I never usually have a cooked breakfast at home but when away I have them for a treat. My usual breakfast is a bowl of high fibre cereal. An hour later I tend to have a decaf tea or coffee with a croissant.
Yesterday evening I left two survey sites. I have decided they are just not worth the time or the trouble. I am also furious with the One Poll site at the moment. About 10 days ago I reached my £25 pay out target and duly claimed. Still waiting for that to arrive! I have since started building up to the next £25. I completed some surveys on Monday but when I went to login yesterday evening it says my account has been either unsubscribed or blocked! No idea why!
I did a little bit of research online and found out this has happened to others too, especially after claiming their earned rewards!
I am going to email them today and ask for an explanation. I will not be happy if I do not get my earned £25!
I did a little bit of shopping this morning and then made a lunchtime visit to my sister's dog to give him a comfort break lol!
I also went to the skin clinic to have a few marks on my face zapped! Purely for cosmetic and vanity reasons. As if I care if people disapprove lolTotal cost for the private treatment was £75 which is good value. I have used the clinic before and have always been impressed with the service. They also carry out NHS work.
Finances all ok.
Now off to email One Poll!2 -
I have had a reply from One Poll demanding in view excessive ID including a photograph before they will me my £25 or re-open my account! None of this was asked for when I started the surveys or put in my initial claim. An appalling service!
Below is my reply to their email. Basically they can go to where the sun doesn't sun! Beware!'I am sorry but the level of proof you are demanding is ridiculous for such a survey site.None of this was asked for when I signed up nor was there any indication that such proof was required when I applied for my payment. In fact I am suspicious of your intentions for demanding such ID proof. In short you are fraudulently keeping from me £25 I legitimately claimed after completing many surveys. I even supplied you with bank details.Interestingly even though I am currently being blocked I am still receiving from you invites to complete surveys!I now request you totally remove my account from your systems along with any data you may hold.'
On a more positive note my Aortic Aneurysm Screening went well. No issues at all, all completely normal!4 -

But on another matter I do like my holidays. I really cannot fathom the prices.
Yesterday I booked a holiday....£2150 inc a room upgrade. Today the same holiday is £4150 without the upgrade.
I simply don't get it.Many companies use demand pricing, the more people want it, the higher the price gets. With modern technology it can easily & quickly done, whereas previously it required a human to spot itAn obvious example is during school holiday time
I just sometimes wonder "does anyone actually pay these prices". Sadly the answer must be yes, unless of course it just helps the companies to promote "reductions"!0
