Hi, regarding surveys I do the YouGov survey which takes ages but pays out £50 when you've got 5000 points.  Surveys are usually worth 50 points and I get 1-2 a week. I'm on about 2500 points.

Opinium is also a good one too. That's pays out at £25 and is quite quick to rack up the points. I think they've recently changed it so you have a choice between cash or vouchers.

Ive tried loads of others and they're rubbish.

Another  way of generating a bit of extra cash is Vinted. It's a selling site, mostly clothes but some people sell games, jigsaws, household items too. They buyer pays for all postage and it's much easier than eBay.
I've probably sold about £200 worth of clothes over the past year.  You don't get much for things but it all mounts up.

I used to do YouGOv, and all was well, but then I had similar not paying out problems, and then surveys dried up as well, and they seem to have deleted me, owing me a few quid which I've kissed goodbye to.

I now scan my shopping, Shop & Scan, which is fine for a singleton, but I imagine could be PIA for a large family, no cash but vouchers, like Amazon, Argos etc
I don't submit till receipts but have never been nagged about it
I get the occasional survey from them, which also generates voucher points
Selection is by household demographics, so I must fit nicely into a single older householder slot and guessing there is a surplus of family households on the waiting list
The points soon mount up, among other items I have had a TV and a camera from them so far
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • About a year ago I was also completing YouGov Surveys but I was only getting one every few weeks so left. To be honest I don’t need the extra few pounds surveys may generate and did them as a little time filler but recent experiences have put me off completely! I also found that when I put in my age and that I was single and had no children the screened out page soon appeared lol!
I may investigate shop and scan but in no rush.
  • Great refund on the breakfasts. Sorry to hear about the surveys. I did swag bucks once when they were doing a special on the MSE news letter. It was a one-off as I was screened out a lot and took a lot of time. I wouldn’t be giving them my ID

I had a similar experience with Co*rs*r* which is an online learning platform.  Did a short course on accounting for non-accountants.  They wanted a copy of my passport to send me a certificate.   I asked them how it would prove it was me, unless they had an existing database of everyone in the world, complete with photo ID.  Furthermore, my professional name is different from the one on my passport; and they always say that if you resemble your passport photo, you're too ill to travel. I declined to participate in quite possibly the world's biggest identity theft scheme.  Who on earth do they think they are?!  Love this thread; thanks @[Deleted User] for starting it and to all contributors.  Onwards and upwards Humdinger
  • Another beautiful warm morning here in the south! Just spent an hour or so tidying the garden. Almost there for the winter now. The lawn may need a couple of more cuts and that's it. Just having a coffee and then off to reorganise the two chest of drawers in the upstairs landing area. Its just trying to make their use more efficient. I don't really have any clutter at all as my slightly obsessive 'tidy' personality doesn't allow it! ;) This afternoon another forest walk while the weather is good.
Financially I have about £43 left of personal spends between now and the end of the month to stay within budget. Should be ok as nothing planned apart from a coffee and cake meet up with some friends early next week.
Everything else paid for and pots filled with usual monthly amounts. It may sound a bit mundane but I'm happy!
  • I have been reading along with your diary and thoroughly enjoying your writings .
I am semi retired with 2 elderly parents and 3 grandchildren. Working 2 days a week works for me at the moment .
Have you found it easy to settle into full retirement?

Many thanks and welcome to the thread. I am rested and generally content but at times do miss school, colleagues and the banter from the students lol!
My elderly relative is not as mobile as she once was so have to keep more of an eye on her but she is still very independent. However, I am not totally free to go where I want as I please but is fine.
  • Well all the chest of drawers have been sorted and the forest walk completed.
Planning to go into town tomorrow. I need to buy some compost to repot the small Christmas tree that will spend Christmas in the conservatory after spending the  summer outside. I shall purchase the main tree in early December!

I also need to change a container of copper coins into notes using the machine in Sainsburys as well as a top shop in there. I may also buy a new rug/mat for the hallway. I also need to drop some things off at the charity warehouse.
May need a tip visit later this week or early next if  I manage to cut the lawns.

We have a yellow weather warning for overnight rain so lawn cutting may have to wait a few days.

Towards the end of the month I will prepare my Christmas lists and online ordering. From early November I will be out and about doing some Christmas shopping. The Christmas pot is in place so that's ok o:) ! I actually bough my cards, wrapping paper, tags and a few small gifts in the sales after last Christmas all at about 25% of their usual price!

As a family we love Christmas and I look forward to it. I have just noticed the M&S Online Christmas shop is available! I'm off for a browse!

Sounds like you have been very productive Baron_Dale.  Similarly, we also have a yellow rain warning for the next couple of days so have prioritised outside work.
Yesterday I cut both lawns which also picked up the leaves.
Today I finished emptying the summer bedding pots and planted them up with spring bulbs and pansies.

Did treat myself to a visit to our museum this morning as one of their exhibitions was coming to an end and I wanted to see it.
