Can we have the link back to the parent forum at the bottom of a thread? For some reason that's now deemed unnecessary, so we have to scroll to the top of the page to do that.
This really isn't a good implementation. Having skipped through a lot of posts on this thread there aren't many that are supportive of it. I'd bet my mortgage (it's zero, so ha
) that the same database is still sitting underneath these front end changes so can MSE do the decent thing and revert back to the previous layout pls? 2 -
Cons:
All too white, really hard to see details.
Too much blank space, too big font, posts are too large - before I was able to read multiple posts in one go, now need to scroll and scroll..
Pros:
I like the box on the right side so I can navigate to my previous posts, threads etc.1 -
Two more whinges:
Where there should be paragraph markers for new paragraphs, there are divs and breaks (it will not lot me show the markup, as it tries to interpret it), which is introducing double-spacing between paragraphs.
When I start to write a post, there is no "Cancel" or "Abandon Post" button - only "Preview", "Save Draft" and "Post Comment".

Well. My bulleted list from less than an hour ago of why this is so poor has gone.
Not up to a bit of criticism then MSE?
Honestly...1 -
What does it mean for a thread to be "top" or "trending" ? Anyone? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

When I try that, it seems it only refers to Categories (of which I do not follow any) and not Topics/Threads/Boards (of which I follow quite a few, and found the now-missing list which told me which of them had unread posts extremely useful).Swipe said:

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the Forum's rules about polite and mindful posts still apply. While we want people to share their thoughts about the new design (both good and bad), we ask that people refrain from making unfriendly comments about MSE staff.Username03725 said:Well. Thanks,

Several posters have mentioned this.squirrelpie said:My main problem is that every time my mouse drifts over the Quick LInks or Categories headers a whole raft of menu items obscures the whole page and I have to perform large mouse gyrations to make them go away so I can carry on.
It seems to me that this is a little better than it was yesterday and the drop down menu disappears easier and quicker than it did, but I like the suggestion someone made that the drop down should require a "click" rather than just a "hover".4 -
Colours being used to make things stand out, a concept that works, is easy on the eye, and humans can process quickly and efficiently!HillStreetBlues said:
That's the same kind of set up as the Pale Moon forum.Troytempest said:lemonfool.co.uk is a layout that looks like it was designed by grown ups. MSE looks like it was designed by children.

Just so much easier to navigate and read.1
