pecunianonolet said:After so many comments now, mostly negative and many issues reported the most sensible solution would be imho:
1. Roll back to old version (if even possible)
2. Set up test environment on server if not already in use
3. Apply as many as possible items of feedback received (cost vs. value). This most likely includes a fair bit of coding work, CSS, setting correct break points for various devices, screen resolutions, browsers, etc.
4. Many have reported problems with accessibility (font size, contrast, white content, etc.) so following https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/wcag/ is key. A dark theme would be very much appreciated.
5. Use a good digital agency for all of this with strong UX capabilities. This would perhaps also help with the main site.
6. Run an intensive UAT (User Acceptance Testing) phase to get it into a good place
7. Roll out0 -
Spoonie_Turtle said:Small niggle: 'latest post' on a board does not show the time of that latest post, so I don't know whether I have to check that board for new posts or not. It would 'only' save about 2 clicks/taps per board, but when everything on here is taking longer anyway it's just extra annoying.
Just want to illustrate exactly what I mean, as words aren't my forte
In turquoise is where the 'at xx:yy' time should go, for the latest post.
In yellow is completely unnecessary, I don't care how long I've been 'following' a board, it's in my saved/favourites because I want it to be, that's all there is to it. Remove that and there's loads of room to include the time of the latest post!
(Come to think of it, does anyone need to know how many discussions are on a board either?)8 -

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.1 -
Agree with the posters using phones who've commented on the inability to return to OP on a long thread.
It used to be possible to turn phone to landscape and then all pages would show. This facility disappeared with the last 'upgrade' IIRC. It wasn't fixed then. Now mse have another opportunity. 🤔3 -
Just had a look at Lemon Fool that has been mentioned. Wow. How much better is that than what this has become. Guess will be using Lemon Fool in the future rather than MSE4

I might be wrong here but does the latest posts not contain the latest posts from every board ?
My browsing used to start on the latest posts that showed posts from all boards yet now I have to go to a particular board to see what's changed
Like i said it could be me and I'm missing something
I think I'll take a look at lemon fool as I have only been interested in MSE till now.1 -
I find it much better than the old system, I am not very good at computing stuff and the like, this is now so much better for me.
I am aware of mixed reviews, when I first used it today on an android, I wasn't happy, but after maybe one hour I managed to join up the dots very easily and certainly enjoying the changes, tks MSE.
I got one question whilst posting here, is there a feature to like a post or is it just click the thanks thumbs up?
Reason I ask is I've read so many excellent helpful posts on here and I am surprised I notice so few thanks.1 -
Not a fan, takes up to much space so having to scroll more, move the quick links back to the left it's where everyone expects them to be! much prefered the old layout. If it aint broke don't try and fix it!0

Having used it a bit more today with more activity, I'm realising how much brain power it takes to parse thread titles out of all the other info displayed. It's given me a headache.
So many things in bold, and the size difference in thread titles is not enough.
Funnily enough looking at it on the screenshot is not actually too bad, but on the full size of the screen and scrolling through whole pages on the board is a lot of mental effort which I don't have to spare. I need that cognitive capacity for reading and responding to posts, not all used up identifying which threads I want to read in the first place.
Ugh.
I'm sorry, I don't want to just be moaning, but this is much more than a niggle.8 -

But after reading it, it looks like someone has tried to use up as much space as possible and somehow missed one of the most important bit of information.
