I am missing the quick link by the comment box at the bottom of the page to get back to the threads on that particular sub section.
It feels like there's a lot more scrolling on mobile. Posts do seem clearer, less cluttered, but I already use the screen in a way that compensates for my crappy eyesight so it's a bit overkill and I feel is adding to the extra scrolling.
The forum overall, when you look at the topics in a section, give me a feeling of being rather dull and uninspiring when looking at the page. There's nothing to make the posts standout or interesting, just monotone, insipid, sameness as I down the page.2 -
TiVo_Lad said:87% of those who voted in a poll (now closed by MSE) thought the new Forum was worse than the old Forum. It'll be interesting to see if the criticism is taken on board and action taken.
Not going to tell you how I voted.

A little bit of praise where it's due (actually quite a lot of credit where it's due
), it would appear that the MSE team is working on the site in real time.
They are clearly improving the experience and reviewing the comments.3 -
So didn't want to comment straight away because a new thing always needs adjustment but I'm finding it borderline unusable so far. I appreciate that its probably an update to the software running the board and you might not have too much control over somethings but the things I liked about the old board seem to have been taken away and none of the things I didn't like seem to have been fixed.
Having spent a few hours on it now the main complaints are:
1. It's difficult to navigate to things - it takes more clicks to get to the same places I want to go to
2. There's too much whitespace - i'm having to scroll and scroll and scroll which makes using the whole thing tiresome
3. The actual content seems to have been de-prioritised in favour of formatting stuff. The posts seem to be the least prominent thing on the page.
4. The fonts are too big which exacerbates the problems of point 2.
5. It's genuinely hurting my eyes to use it for extended periods.
6. It's updated but it still feels really dated. It feels like we've been upgraded to a 00s technology with 00s UX and design principles
The good points:
1. I guess I'm going to not burn hours of my life here arguing with people online and actually get on with doing my real-life TO-DO list. I genuinely don't feel I could use this for extended periods.4 -
Is it possible to search within a single thread?
Threads like the Easy Access Savings Discussion are now over 1500 pages long. Would be good to find posts about a specific bank in that lot.2 -

EDIT: E.g. searching for tandem in the Easy Access Savings Discussion thread gives this:
Click on the bit that says "344 results" and you get this:
You can then sort this from oldest to newest or vice versa if you want by clicking "best match" and selecting the relevant option.
EDIT again: This function was available before the recent updates to the forum so isn't anything new.2 -
Text is too big for me. Have been on for 20 mins and already it has affected my eyes.. the white isn't helping.
For some reason when I click the categories link at the top it displays the list then after 2 seconds takes me to my favorites which I am following! Anyone else experiencing this? 🐈Just my opinion, no offence 🐈0 -
Defect - the ability to see all posts ordered by last comment is playing up significantly... randomly showing threads as fully read when they havent been (refreshing sometimes fixes this), backwards/forwards buttons not always moving the page but the page is reloading
Design dislike - I only get forward and backward buttons and the page I am on making it more difficult to scroll through the last couple of pages of comments and then jump back to page 11 -
We totally understand that the reason for all of the redesigns is primarily to drive us all to your monetised content links and give you more places to highlight them. Like the dumb forum landing page that makes you click at least three times to get to a board.
But seriously you cannot have tested this on any actual users or even a cursory glance over by a UX/UI design bod. Completely amateur stuff like highlight notifications for new posts being the same colour as the text... Come on.4 -
Can someone explain why my favourite category:
Greenfingered MoneySaving
... has an image of someone knitting at the top?!
I'm an avid gardener but even I can't knit whilst weeding my vegetables! 😹Just my opinion, no offence 🐈4
