Morning all! In exciting for me news, I have overcome whatever it was that was holding me back, and started the day with a swim in the sea. Feel more like normal-me as a result. I had 4 months of not being able to swim because of an operation, then nearly a month of just not getting myself back into it. Found a free car park spot and took my own cuppa and olio brioche roll, so NSD intact.
A couple of loads of household washing done and on the line, dinner plans negotiated with the folks, just caught up with diaries sat in the slightly overcast sun.
Have decluttered a few pairs of shoes of DDs that are too battered for the charity shop, and popped one pair in the wash that can go there early next week. Also found, and have washed a pair of trainers for me. Will try them on with the insoles I wear these days and if they fit, thats great. If not, out the door!!
Proud of myself for problem solving and fixing the shredder when it got inadvertently clogged with a cheque book stub I put through intact (whoops!). Reading the stubs they pre-dated DDs arrival 21 years ago, so definitely are no longer needed 🫣
Going to try to continue to progress tasks that weigh disproportionately on my mind today. Am fed up with dragging them with me day to day!9 -
PS @Shrewbie (and any others) 🇺🇦D is taking me to Barcelona for a couple of nights as a birthday present and thank you from her family! Any suggestions gratefully received! We hope to find a few days end of this month or early next - waiting for the results of mum's consultation later this week x7

Hi just to say that I am grateful to have a day at home to get organised after a week mostly spent on the train. I am working on the shady side of the house and there is a lovely breeze. I have to get on with marking college work, but have spent a couple of hours getting my head and work space sorted as well.
Hugs to all, my concentration is sparse I keep getting hit with low level bad news about ds1 from medical side, but am very excited that he had cooked me dinner yesterday after I was out all day.

Thumbs up. Starlight'
I've had a quiet day catching up with friends and relatives by email. Got a surprise this morning from some elderly NZ relatives who are on a cruise around the UK. They've just found out they are docking n Edinburgh next week (a change to the itinerary) and wanted to meet for lunch. I'm being zapped that day. I'm gutted because I don't know if I'll be able to see them again. Sod's law. isn't it?
But it's been a good day. No idea of NSDs. I've given up trying to count.
Hot here but probably a lot cooler than other places.
Five sessions next week. Cross fingers everyone. xxxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Fingers firmly crossed @Toni'sfriendWe actually had a bit of rain at lunchtime, so not much watering needed todaySpent the afternoon clearing out the garage a bit, as OH has ordered a load of logs for winter, as he was offered last season's price for some they are wanting to clear. The log store is full, so they will need to go in the garage - we have an extra wide one, sort of a one and a half car size garage, so we often use the sides for storage, leaving plenty of room to get the car in and out (even for me lol). I found toddler toys and a barely used paddling pool that my grandchildren are now too old for, which are headed for a new home tomorrow. I have listed another item on freecycle, moved empty plastic crates, and tidied up the sales stock items that are still in there.Grateful today for more unwanted items leaving the premises, a refund for some items I returned and bargainous logs which will help to allay heating bills next winter.

Today I am grateful for dc's innate good humour despite being in pain, for an enjoyable couple of school fairs, for still being able to do some marking, for a neighbour offering us a crutch for dc so dh can drill a super low hole in it and dc can then walk better with it than with the school one which is too high for them even at its lowest point, for crutch-lending neighbour also cutting the lawn at the front while we were out.

Yay for crutch-lending lawn-mowing neighbours!
(in isolation, that sentence may sound slightly dodgy!) 🤣8 -
Ah what a shame Toni's friend, is there anything the hospital can do about timings (should you feel up to a brief encounter with them)? If not, maybe you could virtually engage with them - suggest a few places you think they should see, and catch up with them remotely after? I realise sometimes anything extra is too much tho - so feel free to discount ramblings above.8
