  • Gooood morning and happy Friday everyone!

I had such a lovely peaceful evening last night and my face feels great from the mask too :) I have no plans this evening but I do need to catch up on some ironing after the laundry I did yesterday.  So rock and roll on a Friday night :D it will be a NSD for me today though.

PAD today saw £79 go to savings, made up of £5 to the sabbatical, £10 to the £10k challenge (very slow burner) £40 to my travel binder and £24 to my sinking funds.

That's all from me, we have plans to go out for lunch tomorrow but then nothing on Sunday so hopefully the weekend won't be too spendy.

Hope you all have a great weekend

  • Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend?  I am working a later shift today as I have late calls so I managed to stay in bed a while longer this morning.

I managed to have a NSD yesterday and today is one for me as well so that's good. I need to get more in if I want to hit this month's target though. Saturday was spendy but I had planned for that so it's not the end of the world.

Today's PAD included £5 to the sabbatical and £40 to the envelope challenge.

We have been looking at some January holidays but I already have a girls trip planned so I am currently seeing if I can move that to accommodate a holiday... time will tell.

    That's all from me today

  • Hi all, did anyone manage to see the northern lights over the past few nights?  I tried to stay awake both night but just couldn't manage it... I'm too old for staying up late.

I've made my PAD this morning which included £5 to the sabbatical and as usual I am out this evening with the girls so it won't be a no spend day. I'm driving this evening though so it should be a low spend night.   No big spends planned for a while now so that's a bonus, think the next is 21st when I am out for a birthday party.

That's all for my update, hope you're all OK

  • Morning everyone,

Happy Wednesday :) I hope you're all doing well.  Quick finance update, it's a NSD for me today and I've PADded £100 which included £5 to the sabbatical, £4.01 to the sealed pot and £78 from the dice challenge, not as bad as it could have been this morning!

I've started speaking to my employer about the possibility of doing compressed hours, whereby I do 4 long days and have a day off in the week.  I am trialling this as of next week, before I put the official request in.  I think they are concerned about the long day, but as some of my calls and meeting start early and some finish late, it makes sense to me... does anyone else do this? Or have any thoughts on it?  It will mean I can do my full hours and enhance my work/life balance. I think it will also encourage me to actually take lunch breaks instead of grabbing something quick and then heading back to work as I "only have a few more hours to do anyway"

That's about it for what's happening in my world
    Off to start the day

I think 4 long days would be a much better option for you, if it fits with the company's needs.  Do you mean 10-12 hours?  I used to do that quite often when I was a home worker.....back in the day....lol

It would mean 3 days of 9.5 working hours (plus a lunch break) and a fourth of 9 hours (plus lunch).  I think it's totally do-able and I can't see how the cons will get anywhere near the pro's if I'm honest. Aside from meetings, I manage my own workload so I think it work well.

Sounds a much better option then. My DH works 9hrs a day ( plus a 1 hour lunch break), 5 days a week and has to work 4 hours every 3rd Saturday. Plus he had so commute to work...only about  15 mins on his motorbike though.  So your work would sound like a dream to him.....lol.  Hope your boss agrees for you to do it. Will give you a much better work life balance

I reduced to 4 days last Sept, not longer days though. I went from 37 to 29.5. I love having a day off!

I do condensed hours and have done for 5 years. Love it, would never go back, you soon get used to longer days. I work 8-5.30 x 2 and 8-5 x 2. Wednesdays off. 30 mins lunch.I never skip lunch as need the break.  Recommend Wednesdays off as it breaks the week up nicely. Slightly longer days Mon and Tuesday and 5pm finish Thursday Friday. Don’t have Mondays off as it affects your bank holiday/holiday entitlement. Do it, you won’t regret it. You will be tired to start but it will soon settle.

Quite a few people I work with do compressed hours. I think it would work well for you as you’re a home worker.
